Up at Dawn Maison Margiela 2026

To be fair, I already expected not to like this. For half an hour I was pleasantly surprised, the rest of the day I was bored.

Opens with soft, rosy floral with a creamy sweetness. Very feminine and elegant, but also super familiar. Mature version of Victoria's Secret. Yawn.

Sweetness settled and yippie, finally some complexity! Smelled like beautiful morning dew, resting on sleepy flowers. Best stage. Unfortunately, it lasted like 30 min.

After two-three hours, the scent almost completely disappeared from my skin. Now it just smells kinda warm, like my skin has been gently warmed by the sun, somewhere south.

I wish it had more longevity and a stronger identity. I don’t get any earthiness either :(

got this for my birthday back in april, & it holds up very nicely in hot weather! it's so fresh & i can smell it on me after hours of putting it on. it reminds me of sleeping beauty—yes the movie—with the musky rose, earthy & woody notes, as well as the powdery accord it takes when it dries down on the skin. it's slightly spicy too. it feels very lived in. romantic, dewy, misty & refreshing.

This perfume truly has soil accord. And I can strongly smell it in the dry down. The soil in here is the one you’ve just plowed…dark and slightly wet. I’m not sure if I would want to smell like this but it gives this perfume niche quality and it stands out. This one for sure needs to be tested before buying a full bottle.

This is not a classic rose fragrance reminiscent of Turkish roses or pink soap on the sink. Up at Dawn mixes rose with a lovely pepper note that is quite present and a light resin.

This mix makes the fragrance absolutely unisex for me. I hope that neither the pink juice color nor the rose scent will deter men from trying or wearing this fragrance.

I can totally relate to the image painted in the fragrance's marketing, in which a sunrise in an English rose garden served as inspiration for the creation of the fragrance. It's a beautiful image, and the fragrance underscores it. The rose is there, but it is always accompanied by something fresh and slightly spicy. I like that very much.

I could imagine the fragrance as an everyday scent, but its sillage and longevity stand in the way of that. After a few hours, the fragrance is barely noticeable, but for those who have the opportunity to re-spray it or who don't rely on a strong presence, it could be an everyday companion.
