Niche aquatic from Mancera? Yes please!
As a lover of Mancera fragrances I recently discovered their fresher offerings. Lemon Line, Wave Musk and Sicily - everyone a banger to me. While browsing through their offerings I noticed a scent never heard before... "Solei d'Italie". Intrigued I started opening browser tabs, parfumo, fragrantica and youtube - a full on investigation you could say. Reading trough the articles I heard everything from chemical mess to summer staple but interestingly enough the majority was negative to mediocre at best. So what to do with that information? Right, click on the buy button... oh well was I curious.
The package arrived an the bottle just looked gorgeous. Minimalistic but elegant, especially with the new magnetic cap and logo embossed on the top. So how does it smell?
It opens up very muted. No alcoholic blast whatsoever but also not much of a smell. 10 seconds later some juicy citrus fruits start to emerge. From the mass of citrus fruits I expected a vibrant cooling and sharp smell but that's not what you get. Its more like a juicy almost jammy citrus cocktail. From the very beginning on a prominent floral note is detectable. Whereas the rose is not really detectable (maybe contributing to the jammy feeling), jasmine is definitely there, not that different to the jasmine note used in CK One. Diving further into the scent a slight resemblance to Light Blue Intense minus the salty notes comes to my mind. The aquatic notes in addition with the clean white musk makes it lean to the masculine side. A slight pepperiness starts flickering through. From there on it stays very linear and close to the skin. The projection is just after 1h really poor - however as your body heats up it starts coming back. After a whole workday the projection was pretty much non existent but putting my nose to my hand I could still smell it which is quite impressive for a citrus scent. However its not the typical Mancera beast mode.
So what do I think about it? I actually like it a pretty good amount. It does nothing new but it combines some working formulas from the designer world and puts a niche twist on it. To me its like 50% CK One mixed with 20% Light Blue Intense and 30% individual character with the quality slider put up and a dash of characteristic Mancera sweetness.
All in all well done, I'm excited for some more Aquatics Mancera!
