The familiar scent of coffee
I got samples of all the new Micallef Collection Dessert perfumes when they just came out and there were no reviews anywhere at all. Of course, I expected this to be super creamy and rich and was very curious for the macadamia note.
Imagine my surprise when I first tried it and got a coffee fragrance that is not particularly creamy at all. I love creamy perfumes, but I also love coffee, so both is fine with me, it was just not what I hoped for.
Especially because this coffee note is really dark and intense, not like some sugary latte with 90% milk. But it also has a sweetness to it, and I definitely smell the vanilla.
I think this is slightly similar to Montale's classic Intense Cafe, just with even more coffee and a warmer, more gourmand base. It has that cool, radiant rose and musk blend that just feels very familiar, especially in combination with the coffee.
And the macadamia? Honestly, I have no clue. I don't think that macadamia nuts have an intense scent, so maybe I'm overlooking something, but this is absolutely not a nutty scent. Too bad, it sounded so original.
Nevertheless, despite the lack of originality, this is a good fragrance, in my opinion even the best of the line - provided you like the Intense Café scent family. I'm sure it will hit the perfect spot for someone with the sweet base and coffee overdose. I already have the OG and am content with that.
