Not What I Was Expecting or Wanted
Do not expect a warm weather tropical fragrance. That’s the mistake I made. Lately I’ve been on a fig kick and when I came across Royal Blue, I quickly bought a sample.

The notes are very deceptive. Royal Blue is geranium/rose dominant with a mild westernized oud and generic aquatic notes. I do not pick up any fig or coconut milk. It must be buried beneath everything else.

To my nose, this is a combination of Sahara and L for Men. Borrowing the rose from Sahara and the light-handed oud from L for men. The drydown takes me to Acqua di Giò pour Homme Eau de Toilette but I haven’t put my nose on that in over twenty years so I could be mistaken.

This is a limited run, but sample before blind buying. No need to rush. I’m starting to see this at discounters.

Glacier air
I ordered very quickly after the fragrance went online here.
The expectation of an aquatic coconut was enough for me.

I got none of it and yet so much more.

The first impulse screamed French Riviera and with real power.

But where the Mancera rounds off creamy and gently floral, the Royal Blue retains a crystal-clear rose geranium, accompanied by some (yuzu) lemon and aquatics.

If you want to talk yourself into a coconut, the best you'll get is iced coconut water.

Despite or perhaps because of all this, I am not at all disappointed.

For me the best ice/glacier/mountain air fragrance so far and therefore perfect for the summer. As (almost) always, the power comes from some synthetic support, but should still be perfectly pleasant for most people.

Finally, briefly on the course:
It retains its character for a long time. If you know it, you can smell the brightest oud ever in the drydown, but I don't find it animalic, musty, etc. at all.
