Mysterious organic Pear....
Pear and Orange...opening notes. No mystery here...it's been done lots of times. But this fragrance has a sort to double mystery. First, let me thank my dear friend, and member Pipette for sending me a very generous decant from her precious bottle, so I could try, and understand this unusual, and lovely fragrance. This is a Perfume House I have not heard of, nor have I seen people on other forums recommending it. I went on to their very fancy website, and looked at the other fragrances they have for offer. First of all, most of the fragrances are for men, or classed as unisex. There is one other fragrance for ladies. And ,this one as well. There seems to be some sort of connection with horses, or the names of certain breeds of horses.I won't elaborate on this part of the fragrance..as that is Co. logo or intention). Now, on to the actual fragrance. First of all, the Pear....I am not a fan of fruity fruit orientated perfumes...so was really impressed with this pear note. I didn't detect orange...not at first, just the pear..and it was like a burst of real..organic fresh dewy pear...just opened whilst testing the freshness at an open air market. This was just an introduction to the perfume...It sparkled for the first five minutes with the pear, then I recognized the Orange Blossom..also completely natural..like walking in an orchard in bloom. It lists Iris as a note, but very briefly got that leather handbag note, which Pipette mentioned...we all have different perceptions of notes..which is wonderful! The dry down is soft, and lovely...I pick up the Amber the most...The sandalwood and vanilla are not prominent here...but might be to another wearer. I believe this is a quite expensive perfume. I would say the ingredients are very high quality. I applied this fragrance fully, as I would as if going out...and sat and read a book. The mystery of this fragrance came in waves..weaving in and out. I was very impressed with the the whole concept. If you ever have the chance to test this...please do...it will be a chance to experience an original organic fruit scent..without that jarring fruity vibe) blending into a wonderful soft, interesting and elegant fragrance.

Could this be leather ?
Although the notes are listed as pear and orange blossom, my untrained nose cannot really make these out ... instead I am smelling something reminiscent of a fine leather note. Such as the smell of a brand new leather bag, smooth and soft, incredible, no exaggeration.

This elegant perfume develops with powdery fullness, does not overwhelm but has a definite sillage, so much that when I re-enter a room, I can find the scent molecules present in the air. They also remain in the clothes so that it could become something like a signature.

However, this scent is demanding a formal occasion to really make its entrance, with pomp and dignity. Top quality. Top price. My tiny sample vial is now guarded like a jewel.

Hypnotic and addictive Orange Blossom scent
Safanad is my first bottle from PDM, I was never interested in this house. My friend told me that I would love this one so I ordered it and don't regret at all. The bottle is so pretty and I'm surprised how much I love the juice itself.

Safanad is a rich composition with gorgeous, narcotic, natural smelling Orange Blossom with sweet Pear and Orange in the opening, both of them making the florals a bit sticky and candied. An addictive tropical breeze from luscious Ylang-Ylang and hypnotic jasmine melds enchantingly into the base where golden Amber, sweet attractive Vanilla and creamy Sandalwood complete the full-bodied blend. It’s bright and luminous, absolutely a scent of happiness.

Safanad was released in 2012 and maybe it was quite unique back then, but nowadays it's not groundbreaking in any way, but it's still beautifully blended, the aroma is very rich and the scent lasts forever even on the skin. I think this can be too much for some people.

I don't find this similar with Classique Eau de Toilette since this is brighter, not so complex and it doesn't have that sensual mysterious character which original blend of Classique had. There is Orange Blossom and many other same notes but Safanad is clearly Orange Blossom scent with candied fruits while all the notes in Classique are melting together and it evolves into sensual powdery scent and creates a seductive, irresistible veil into your skin. Even if Classique is more complex I think it's easier to wear. I think Classique Intense and Le Parfum Eau de Parfum has more similar vibe with Safanad since those are bright, even a bit solar perfumes and the blends are simpler by focusing more on Orange Blossom than the blend of Classique Eau de Toilette does.

Thank you for reading and I hope you liked my review.

madcap glamour
Safanad from Parfums de Marly. Oh my goodness. Never, ever has a fragrance before elicited such an immediate response from me of “holy moly, this is what I imagine so-n-so smells like!” Safanad is a rich, velvety amber, projecting an opulence amplified by orange blossom’s bewitching florals and jasmine’s heady musk, which always seems to me both elegantly amorous but also offers an animalic eroticism. This is a fragrance that seems at first vexingly overbearing and almost outrageously assertive but the better you get to know it the more you appreciate its sumptuous exuberance and enthusiasm. And of course, I am envisioning none other than everyone’s favorite flamboyant and glittering space aunt, Lwaxana Troi: daughter of the Fifth House, holder of the Sacred Chalice of Rixx, and heir to the Holy Rings of Betazed. And much like this character, Safanad at first seems too much, nearly suffocating in its madcap glamour, but underneath its gorgeousness runs a deeply woven thread of melancholy, obscured for a time by orange blossom’s more hypnotizing facade but which, in fact, masks some really somber, sorrowful facets. Both Safanad and our beloved Betazoid intergalactic life coach Lwaxana are complex, compelling, and thoroughly beautiful.

Parfum de Marly - Safanad
Parfums de Marly
Do you get angry when someone calls you a horse?
As a rule, they should not, because horses are noble, smart and most beautiful animals.

Legends say that from the time of Suleiman, the Queen of Sheba gave King Suleiman a mare named Safanad, and in translation
means "pure". Safanad is believed to be the matriarch of all Arabian horses and the oldest of all horses.

It is believed that Safanad was an animal endowed with spirit from the North, strength from the South, speed from the East and intelligence from the West.

This perfume is an extremely delicate, but also a complex floral fragrance with a composition that shows me every note and leaves a trace of grace and luxury, and a bit of tropical harmony.

After the first spray, it leaves a trace of orange with a three-dimensional note of pear, the heart of the perfume itself is sweet ylang-ylang in combination with iris and orange blossom, which gives me a creamy feeling. The base of the perfume is amber, wood and vanilla. A simply stunning fragrance reminiscent of the most luxurious sunscreen.

If you like Classique EDP and EDT, Safanad will surely be your favorite.

My favorite women's PDM. Very underrated. Smells like a resort hotel lobby, 90’s suntan lotion, or a sunset. Warm, Amber, Sweet. Gatekeep ts

A safe, light floral with an orange blossom/pear combo that keeps it from being an utter bore. Ladylike but in a polite, HR approved way

Yellow floral open with light fruitiness. Dry-down of pear & florals (mainly orange blossom & iris). No rough edges, but average execution.

Mellow pears and orange, followed by an assortment of powdery florals. Dries down to an uneventful vanilla with warmth. A bit bland to me.

Sweet vanilla mixed with orange blossom. Reminds me a bit of a peppier In the Library. Extremely pretty and soothing.

I smell mostly orange blossom and iris. I wish the pear was more distinct. Well blended, classic fragrance but too bland for me.
