A great scent for anyone starting a collection

I get a ton of fresh lime off the top of this, but not a lot of the grapefruit note. The dry down is a very pleasant, if almost basic, woody note that makes this a great "running errands" fragrance. It only lasts about 3-4 hours, so you can swap out for something else later in the day or reapply if you're in the mood.

The fact that you can find it so cheap makes it a great introductory fragrance or one to just grab if you see it for a good price.

Big Pony Collection - 1 (for men) by Ralph Lauren

Reminiscent of a cleaning solution. It also reminds me of some sort of fruity candy. It smells slightly synthetic, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing in this case because it works. I’m not sure if Ralph Lauren Fragrances intended to create a natural citrus scent and failed, or if the fragrance is supposed to smell artificial. Nevertheless, it smells fresh instead of sterile. How it smells isn’t my favorite, but it’s not bad by any means. What really leaves something to be desired is its performance… it barely lasts 3 hours. It is an intimate fragrance. Easy to become nose blind to. I only wear it if I want to wear something for the sake of wearing something, especially if it is short-living; its performance doesn’t bother me since I have this specific use for it. The atomizer sucks, so you have to over-overspray for it to be noticeable by yourself and, if you’re lucky, others. I bought my 3.4 oz bottle at T.J.Maxx blindly for $19.99. I wouldn’t have bought it if it was any more expensive.

Time to Hit the Shower.

To sell a pitiful performance as a victory, one needs the courage for bold words and, of course, a product that requires justification like this one. To actually suspect oak moss and lime in such a shower gel concentrate, which one could probably siphon off from large industrial chemical tanks, takes quite a bit of poetic sense.
Definitely present is the cheapest available citrus substitute, underpinned by the essence of all those low-priced washing products that promote a blue-tinted freshness. The aquatic tragedy is completed by a perfidious homage to the smell of chlorine in poorly ventilated public swimming pools.
"Number one" is thus nothing less than a parody of an aquatic, as the entire pony collection generally represents the scam of the year. Laboratory creations at a ridiculous price...

Let's get ready to... Boooooring!

Actually, I usually write comments with the perfume still on my skin, which allows me to take a few whiffs and spontaneously add to my memories and notes. Unfortunately, that's not possible here anymore, as I tested it over a week ago. And the last 2-3 hours of the scent's progression, if you can even call it that for this simple aquatic/shampoo fragrance, are completely gone due to a full-blown hangover anyway. What an evening... but that's another story ;)

The Pony Line is known to almost everyone - and usually not in a good way. Overpriced, boring, and synthetic or of low quality. But average noses probably have little to complain about it, otherwise my best buddy, with whom I got to test it, wouldn’t have already bought the second fragrance in the line with the blue bottle. Well, at least they’re not stinkers. But they are just mega interchangeable and very carelessly "thrown together".

Number 1 is unfortunately no exception. In comparison, even the weak new Red seems like a bullseye. A comparison to good RLs like Polo, Black, or Blue is almost self-evident. So many niche perfumes show what wonderful creations can emerge from just a few fragrance notes. Here, pure boredom arises and every word is too much of a good thing. I’ll just say dry, soapy, aquatic-citrusy, and like plain old shampoo. €10 would be just about appropriate for this.

Bottle: better than the scent but also quite cheesy.
Sillage: weaker than the scent and every bubble bath smells stronger.
Longevity: 4 hours (+- 2 hours)

Stay away from the Pony Line - even RL fans should rather reach for the classics one more time!

Well. I bought the fragrance when it was newly released and recently purchased it again. Somehow, the scent is boring and not something that absolutely needs to be in a man's collection. I've smelled fragrances that are worse, but there are definitely better ones. This freshness comes across as monotonous, dull, and only moderately long-lasting. The lemon smells rather artificial with a strange beige note. Well. You can't win any awards with this fragrance.

Fresh Lemon, not much else. Good for the gym because it doesnt project much or last long. Do not buy at full price.
