An Oriental Rose Fragrance

Wow! This would actually be my 800th review on Parfumo! Now I'm looking at "Diapason | Sospiro." With rose fragrances, anything can happen, from good to terrible, but to my surprise, I am very pleased here. Additionally, the longevity on my skin is strong at around 12 hours, and the sillage is also quite convincing.

The top note starts off very floral and intense thanks to Bulgarian rose and rose geranium. In the heart note, rose water dominates, accompanied by a pronounced woodiness. The base has an oriental scent but continues to be woody with oud, cedarwood, and rosewood.

Diapason is a rose fragrance that a man can really wear well - my female colleague found it really beautiful. I thank Will for the manufacturer sample.

One of the Best Rose Ouds?

I acquired this fragrance in search of a dry rose oud without much fuss.
It should be potent yet unobtrusive.
I went through various scents, stumbling upon Initio Oud for Greatness and other renowned oud fragrances.
However, these were too extravagant and already too popular for my taste.

Until I came across Diapason.
I looked at the fragrance notes, purchased it in the souk, and was immediately satisfied with the first sniff.

It starts with a slight animalic note, an opulent rose, and a colorful blend of spices that feels piercing.
However, this dissipates quite quickly, leading to a cozy development of the fragrance's progression. As it evolves, the rose softens, and the scent becomes woody and spicy with a subordinate but still noticeable rose note.

Longevity is extremely good; it can be perceived for over 12 hours, while the sillage is not overwhelming.

I would use this fragrance more in everyday life; it can be worn in any situation. However, in summer, the scent can develop into a suffocating or piercing direction, which is why I would prefer it for the colder days.

Basically, it’s a solid woody scent with a good progression that in no way feels synthetic and doesn’t overwhelm anyone.
A rose oud for the Western world, at a good price.
