A new addition to my collection: Bel Canto from the Classica collection, which, like all the others in this collection, features a title from classical music. Sospiro is one of my favorite brands, and all the fragrances I've tested are true hits for me. This Bel Canto is more of a "Hidden Gem" and hardly gets any attention, which is a shame given this wonderful DNA. The advantage, however, is that it remains more niche and unknown. The scent is not too niche, as it leans towards the pleasing niche type. The fragrance DNA slightly reminds me of
Jazz Club by Maison Margiela, although it is noticeably softer and wonderfully suitable for the autumn-winter everyday life. With Bel Canto, you get a soft, cozy scent that is perfect for both ladies and gentlemen and truly a great companion for cooler days. I'm glad I made this blind buy, as this is a DNA I enjoy wearing and am happy to have in my collection.
This Bel Canto is available exclusively in 100ml like almost all Sospiro fragrances. The 100ml is worth it, as you can wear it for various occasions and throughout many months. Up to 20 degrees, this is a DNA that can definitely work. The packaging looks pretty, but the scent is quite wobbly inside, so you have to open the box very carefully. They could have done better there. The bottle is well made with the velvet, better than the old Xerjoff's from the V-collection. The price of the scent is fair if you keep an eye out for offers. I took advantage of a Christmas promotion and paid significantly less than €150.
In my opinion, the scent does not impress with a big "wow effect," but rather it is the type of cozy fragrance that you enjoy having around. Some describe this scent as floral, which I do not perceive here. The creamy-sweet notes, sandalwood, lightly powdered notes, and relatively fresh citrus-herb notes are clearly in the foreground. The fragrance is built on a wonderful sandalwood base, which is perceptible throughout its development. Along with a lovely sweetness paired with creamy musk and the warmth of amber & vanilla. As I said, it reminds me a bit of Jazz Club, but here without the boozy notes and somewhat more elegant and softer. Relatively fresh and herbal citrus notes keep the scent lighter at the beginning, and as mentioned, the fragrance becomes very sandalwood-heavy towards the base, with the soft and warm notes becoming more active. For me, it is a thoroughly great companion for mild to cold days & evenings. Nothing bothers me, and I would especially wear it when I feel like something cozy in everyday life. The scent is pleasing and simply a safe choice.
The performance is very solid, and longevity & sillage are above average with 9-10 hours of longevity, many of those hours with good sillage. Great for everyday wear, but also for a cozy and clean evening scent. It is definitely elegant enough to be worn on special occasions.
In conclusion, I can say: This scent deserves more attention. I can join the positive reactions and am glad to have it in my collection. On cold and mild days, this is a DNA that I really enjoy.
