Erba Pura Magica Sospiro 2022

In my opinion, Sospiro is a very underrated fragrance house (other than Vibrato which gets the attention it is due) and this is one of the most under-appreciated scents they have.

Bottle (9/10) as I’ve said in other reviews, I initially disliked the velvet, but now I find the presentation to be very unique and luxurious. Also the light blue color design is perfect for describing what is inside.

Scent (9/10) an outstanding mixture of fruity notes that blend well with some faint amber/vanilla depth. The Xerjoff version, Erba Pura, is much more screechy and aggressive whereas this is refined but still strong enough to be smelled. It is a great spring/summer scent but has enough depth that it can work even in warm winter days without feeling weird. It is somewhat feminine though, so it may not be for some men as a result.

Performance (7.5/10) day long longevity with a decent projection that isn’t too much. I find this combo to be perfect.

As soon as I smelled this in a decant, I knew I needed a full bottle. Highly recommend!

It took exactly one second for Provenzano to completely overshadow ALL Erba Puras like Kirkè Extrait de Parfum, Heroine, "Erba Pura | XerJoff", "Erba Gold | XerJoff", and Herbal Aquatica. Well, you might think that the top note defines the fragrance? Not at all! This scent has perhaps the best drydown I have ever experienced. More about that in this review!

The top note immediately reminds me of "Erba Gold | XerJoff". However, I find it a bit more masculine and citrusy than the Gold. Here we start with a pleasant (not like "Erba Pura | XerJoff" which is highly synthetic) fruit basket, characterized by the distinctive combination of citrus and jasmine. Nothing unpleasant stands out - no hairspray or anything like that. Instead, a beautiful citrus-jasmine-fruit basket unfolds, which is absolutely unisex but has a slightly masculine touch. The opening is fresh, life-affirming, and youthful and vibrant due to its sweet-fruity character. Even with the first spray, Erba Pura Magica conveys pure good mood and instantly transports you mentally to vacation.

In the heart, the fragrance becomes even more exciting. Here it develops into a balsamic-woody-caramel direction that is absolutely addictive. I don't even want to know how many times I had to sniff my wrist - simply insane! The scent becomes more masculine over time, as the woods and balsamic notes dampen the fruitiness. Interestingly, the fruitiness never completely disappears. This is a huge difference from "Erba Gold | XerJoff", where the fruity notes are completely lost after about 1.5 hours. Genius! Very well done, Provenzano!

In the base note, Provenzano opts for caramel and musk instead of the usual vanilla-musk combination. The musk is absolutely pure - comparable to Musk Therapy Extrait de Parfum - and perfectly supports the caramel. The drydown is truly magical: slightly creamy, yet fresh and lightly cool. The subtly sweet musk-caramel combination irresistibly draws you in.

The longevity and sillage of this fragrance are exceptionally good. I find it to be slightly less potent than "Erba Pura | XerJoff", but stronger than "Erba Gold | XerJoff". In my opinion, Magica strikes the perfect balance, as the DNA has been adjusted through the changes and concentration so that it does not cause headaches like the other Erba scents. Four sprays are enough to smell good for about ten hours with moderate projection - simply great!

When and where to wear it?
I wouldn't recommend the scent for work (he said while spraying two sprays for work - but that's our little secret!). However, it is perfectly suitable for leisure, dates, or the club. With its citrusy, fruity freshness, Magica is definitely a spring and summer fragrance.

The scent is wearable for both genders. Especially men who have not been completely convinced by "Erba Pura | XerJoff" & "Erba Gold | XerJoff" should definitely give this a sniff!

The packaging and the bottle easily stand alongside brands like Creed, MFK & Ex Nihilo. However, one should be careful not to soak the velvet cover with perfume while spraying, as it can crumble over the years, just like the velvet covers from Xerjoff, and then it won't look so nice anymore. The price of €229/100 mL is a bit high, but if you find it between €150 and €180, it is absolutely worth the money. Moreover, you will hardly use up this 100-mL bottle quickly, as just a few sprays provide long-lasting enjoyment.

Erba Pura Magica is definitely a scent you should have smelled if you liked "Erba Pura | XerJoff" in any way. This fragrance hits like a bomb! My synapses needed some time to realize that an Erba DNA could be so compelling. I am curious to see what Provenzano will surprise us with in the future.

Actually, this Erba Pura DNA is already quite "worn out", yet it is a type of fragrance that simply always works and captivates many people. The original "Erba Pura | XerJoff" didn't make it into my collection, even though I don't find it bad at all. What many don't know is that this entire V-Line in the velvety bottles actually comes from Sospiro and was bought by Xerjoff. The fact that Sospiro has reappeared has caused quite a bit of beef between the brands. Be that as it may, I hold both brands in high regard. However, this Erba Pura clearly belongs to Sospiro in my opinion. Additionally, Sospiro also has Erba Leather and Erba Oud in their range, which complement the same DNA with leather and oud. I find the latter quite cool and it is also in my collection.
In terms of price, the two fragrances are quite similar, although you have to wait for the right offer on this Sospiro. You can get 100ml for under €200, which is already a good catch if you like this wonderful fruity-sweet DNA. The packaging is also cool. You get a great box sealed with two stickers. It also looks nice visually.
The velvety bottles are unpopular with many. While I'm not a big fan, Sospiro does this a bit better. Softer and of higher quality, plus it doesn’t give the impression that it would come apart like with Xerjoff. It features the typical Erba Pura color with a stunning golden decoration and cap. It looks impressive.

For those who don't have the necessary cash for this Sospiro or one from XJ, they can also get the Shaghaf Oud Ahmar Eau de Parfum, which goes in a very similar direction. However, here you already get a high-end product of the highest class in the overall package. The biggest difference between these two competitors: The Magica is significantly softer, less penetrating & sharp, and simply more balsamic-soft. The fruity note from exotic fruits is identical, and as a lover of this DNA, you will get your money's worth. This fruit cocktail is soft, juicy, somewhat exotic, invigorating, and simply a compliment magnet. Even though the sillage is just as good, you get a less penetrating scent here than with XJ. This makes it significantly more pleasant and also more wearable in many situations. Additionally, this Magica is relatively fresh, and you can wear it in warmer temperatures. Soft flowers and beautifully soft balsamic notes also spread out. This brings in some light Cassiopea Extrait de Parfum vibes. The whole thing is topped off with nicely sweet caramel, which is not too much and operates in a pleasant range. Of course, musk should not be missing in this Erba Pura DNA, but here it is very well balanced and sits nicely under the fruits. You can also find wood and amber in the wonderful soft drydown.
Performance is top, like most fragrances of this type. The scent contains quite a bit of oil, which is noticeable after spraying. The sillage is really good, but not exaggerated. Longevity should be over 10 hours. Overall, it’s a great unisex fragrance that makes you feel comfortable without annoying people. It certainly has the most charm in leisure time.

For me, it is overall the perfection of this world-famous DNA. This fruit cocktail with sweet, balsamic, and floral accents is already a top choice for feeling good and also for compliments.

I have to admit that as a man, I am an extreme fan of Erba Pura and have always been since I first smelled the fragrance about 6 years ago. I love the fruity scent DNA, the color of the bottle, the velvet (at least in the old version), and the performance.

However, I also know that the fragrance, despite its generally pleasing scent direction, does not always receive positive feedback. On one hand, this is due to the really strong projection of the scent, the "sticky" and hairspray-associated piercing notes, as well as the fact that you wouldn’t necessarily expect this fragrance on a man.

More so because Xerjoff removed the velvet covering from Erba Pura and my old Erba Pura is nearing its end, I decided a few weeks ago to buy and test Erba Pura Magica blind. And I must say, I do not regret it.

The bottle is beautiful, the turquoise velvet is of high quality, and the bottle feels heavy in hand. The scent DNA is outstanding and truly very, very lovely. Fans of the well-known Erba Pura DNA will be fully satisfied here, but Erba Pura Magica is even more beautiful. Better balanced, cleanly harmonized, no piercing hairspray note, and it feels even a bit fruitier than the well-known big brother. The performance is absolutely comparable and really good.

I have smelled all the Erba fragrances from Xerjoff+Sospiro and must say, as pure Erba DNA, Magica is the best. I always like to make the following comparison: If Erba Pura is a juicy fruit salad, then Erba Pura Magica is a juicy fruit salad with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top.

It replaces that sour, hairspray-like note with a really beautiful and soft creaminess that simply reminds me of ice cream. It fits perfectly into this DNA and really feels more like an enhancement of the composition rather than a true flanker. Furthermore, it actually has a more gourmand effect and comes across as more unisex than feminine, as many claim about Erba Pura. In comparison, Erba Gold has a somewhat richer and slightly tropical selection of fruits in the basket. Overall, Erba Gold smells a bit more luxurious but not necessarily better. For me, the regular Erba Pura would be a 7.5/10, the Gold an 8.5/10, and the Magica a 9/10. All three are very nice, but accordingly, they are good, better, and best.
