An Eternal Dream on a Roman Rooftop

The first impression is one of a somewhat matte texture. It starts off with a strong dry impression, reminiscent of the violet color of the bottle, but then accents of black pepper instantly elevate the vanilla, elevating its elegance.

This fragrance truly shines on the skin, rather than on a scent strip. The vanilla, musk, and sandalwood accords spread incredibly smoothly on the skin, imparting a deep sense of security. Of particular note is the oily olive accent deep within. This oiliness gives the fragrance a matte, rich feel, which in turn contributes to its elegant, artistic elegance.

Though named "Romantic," this fragrance eschews the glamour of flowers for a more smoky, yet not overly heavy, vanilla texture, making it truly "punk." A fragrance that embodies the timeless spirit of Rome, where the warmth of nature coexists with the elegance of couture.

Love for Fragrance Has No Rule

I first stumbled upon Punk romantic while browsing around Parfumo for something new to try that I could find in person. Going into it, before even smelling it, the introductory note talked about how punk is romantic and how love has no rule. Immediately, I was on board with trying it out.

In the first few minutes of the opening you get a slightly spicy vanilla forward fragrance. The vanilla note didn’t come off as cloyingly sweet but it was still a bit dense. Alongside it was a fair bit of powder, along with a wood note that I wasn’t familiar with up to that point. This note gave off a slightly balsamic flavor, as if I were smelling a piece of bark drizzled with a bit of olive oil. Smelling that accord was certainly unexpected, but it wasn’t by any means an unwelcome surprise.

The middle of the fragrance’s drydown sees the balsamic flavor of the woods departing, with another sweet flavor taking its place. The woods are still very present, though, and despite the balsamic taste being out of the equation, a similar and familiar taste is emerging, although it is fairly faint.

In the end, the sweetness in the vanilla really turns up. Combined with the second wood note who is later identified as sandalwood, the vanilla note turns a bit more rich and creamy than what it was in the opening, leaning closer to a more familiar scent. At this point, the scent is a lot more close to the skin, and comes off as soft and cosy compared to the opening accords.

I likened this fragrance to a night out on the town. To me, this is a scent with an opening that gets you going ready for the eventful night ahead of you and finishes with a cosy base that calms you down after everything is said and done. The fragrance uses familiar accords and demands your full attention by offering a unique and unexpected twist. I can say with certainty the scent, along with its very interesting introduction, got my full attention. And having worn this a few times now and having enjoyed every single moment of it, whether it be in experiencing new scent profiles or feeling right at home with its more familiar faces, I’m glad it did.

No Iris? Well, my nose detects it!

Punk Romantic didn't really appeal to me at first, but it got noticeably better after wearing it a second and third time.
I think this fragrance could definitely gain many fans. Although it doesn't list iris, somehow I get an iris here that reminds me of Valentino Uomo Intense.

The scent starts for me with slight "pencil" vibes.
It also feels a bit "rough" and could be off-putting.
I also immediately get a kind of iris in my nose. Strangely, iris is not listed at all.

Over time, this pencil vibe fades away and what remains is a prominent powdery iris for me.
It then takes on slightly woody nuances and, above all, gains creamy, sweet characteristics after a while.
The vanilla comes through really well and blends with a beautiful creamy sandalwood.

The fragrance is definitely unisex and has an appealing performance.
On my skin, the scent lasts about 7-8 hours.
The sillage is also completely fine to good.

Flower Power..

The scent hit me straight in the heart, like Cupid's arrow. But the name is totally wrong and misleading. The fragrance should definitely be called Hippie Romantic; it has nothing to do with punk..

So many childhood memories came rushing back as soon as I sprayed the scent. We were sitting in my friend's playhouse in the garden. It was more like a wooden garden shed, but it was transformed into a playhouse. It was our secret spot where we did forbidden things, like lighting incense sticks, sharing our biggest secrets, etc. Her sister had just returned from the USA; she was totally into the Flower Power movement. She had even been to Woodstock. We were so jealous, but we were just too young for such adventures. We were probably around 6-7 years old. On a rainy afternoon, when we were sitting in the wooden house as usual, her sister brought incense sticks that she had brought from San Francisco. We felt like we were doing something very forbidden. Her sister lit the sticks, and we were almost paralyzed by the warm, woody scent that smelled so lovely and sweet. On the small windowsill stood a little radio. When Janis Joplin played and "Me and Bobby McGee" flowed from the little radio, we completely flipped out. We ran out into the rain and left the door to the wooden house open so we could still hear the music loudly and let the sweet scent of the incense waft into the garden. We danced in the rain and imagined we were at Woodstock. We were so blissfully happy, felt so free, and got completely soaked down to our underwear, but we didn't care. We were the little flower power girls.

Exactly those memories came flooding back to me as I sprayed the scent. The warm, woody fragrance that has a slightly smoky scent, like sweet incense sticks. The fragrance has such an incredibly beautiful olive wood note that smells very realistic on my skin and is the most present throughout. I can hardly smell the juniper berries; instead, there is a lot of soft, very powdery sandalwood with vanilla in the base. However, for me, it is definitely not a vanilla scent; the vanilla feels more like powdered sugar. The powdered sugar lightly sprinkles over the warm wood.

What a dream scent. Slightly smoky/sweet with good longevity and pleasant sillage.

It immediately landed on my wish list.
