Lirona
Since I am fortunate enough to own samples of both fragrances, I was able to test them extensively over a longer period. My last test, which preceded this review, was last night.
One thing to note: Verona 010 and Lira are - as some of my previous commentators have already pointed out - nearly identical.
The - really only tiny - difference lies in the top note. Where Lira shows a juicy, orange freshness for about 30 minutes, Verona 010 has already fully transitioned into the heart note. The bergamot and lavender are completely suppressed or are so homeopathically dosed that they are not perceivable.
From the heart note onward, however, the two are almost identical. The tiny differences that may exist between the two fragrances can probably only be detected by a professional "nose," meaning a perfumer. For us users and hobby noses, it's rather unlikely.
The obvious difference lies in the bottle - the Verona 010 bottle is, in contrast to the Lira bottle, beautiful and worth the sin - and in the price. Verona 010 was priced at XerJoff a whopping €84 higher than Lira. However, this difference can be explained by the very artistically designed bottle and possibly - if XerJoff remains with the limited series of 101 for Verona 010 - these bottles may eventually achieve very high collector prices.
Thus, the bottle would be the only reason for me - if I actually had the means - to buy Verona 010 instead of Lira; the content, not so much. However, the question of purchase no longer arises, as the fragrance is sold out at XerJoff.
As I already noted with Lira, which bears a strong resemblance to a really inexpensive fragrance, namely Tendre Madeleine from the Les Senteurs Gourmandes collection by Laurence Dumont, this also applies to Verona 010. Tendre Madeleine shows a certain soapiness after about 2 hours, very subtly, which is not present in either Lira or Verona 010. Both are thoroughly gourmands.
My conclusion: if Verona 010 were the only fragrance of its kind, I would buy it (if it were still available), because it is absolutely beautiful. However, since it is not the only one and has not only Lira but also Tendre Madeleine as fragrance twins, the question of purchase does not arise.
My call to all Verona 010 owners: do not dispose of the empty bottle, but have it gilded!
Oh yes, and we non-owners would also appreciate an original photo of your lovely bottle...
