A Mysterious Floral Concoction
There's a certain mysterious, ethereal quality to Adi ale Van perfumes, which is well visualized through the unique bottling. On a tester, this smells a bit different than it does on my skin. The juxtaposition of fruity and floral notes against resinous, earthy, and woody one is quite sharp on a tester, but it mellows on my skin. At first, there's a somewhat unpleasant synthetic character to it, which I can't quite place, but this fades within the first 5-10 minutes, leaving behind an incredibly complex fragrance. This isn't like anything I've smelled before. A deep, long inhalation is required to start picking apart the notes, which blend into something oddly floral. This isn't a fresh, floral scent well suited to everyday wear (at least not in an office...). It's a more challenging one. I'm reminded of digging in a damp flower garden, complete with compost and fungus, wearing a pair of leather gloves.
Just as that smell would tend to stick with you, I find this one persists fairly well. I've been impressed with the longevity of a lot of Adi ale Van fragrances, but the long life cycle and evolution is really necessary to appreciate the complexity present here. Projection is moderate at first, but fades to something more intimate. I do find myself using these quite a bit more sparingly than other perfumes. Partly because of the power, partly because the initial aroma can be a bit overpowering for me. I wouldn't wear this scent as a crowd pleaser, but I find it immensely intriguing. I can't stop smelling myself to appreciate it in full.
Considering the niche nature of Adi ale Van, it is fairly difficult to get a sample or even a bottle of most of their fragrances. However, one can contact Adi ale Van through the website or over Instagram, and he is more than happy to make orders custom with relatively quick turnaround. I highly recommend the sample set as a starting point to appreciate the artistry of these fragrances.
