Don’t cut off your nose
You all know Vincent van Gogh right? He went a bit mad and cut off his ear after drinking too much absinth. Well back in the days there was load of absinth balm in the booze, probably provoking dilutions. Nowadays it’s just a strong liquor based mostly on anise.

Which is a very nice smell indeed. I do, however, associate it with childhood. Not being able to sleep my mom always made me a cup of milk with some anise. Worked like a charm.

This fragrance has an incredible smell, the drydown is a bit woody, really nice. Kilian knows its woods. It takes forever to get to that drydown though. First 6 - 8 hours is really spicy anise with moderate projection in the first hour or two.

On my first wear I immediately put this on my wishlist but I’m not sure if I want to smell like anise all day. Probably scared to doze off, or that I want to cut off organs.

Gorgeous, gorgeous perfume, *chef's kiss chef's kiss chef's kiss*
Very good sillage and quite potent, particularly on the anise front.
I would say lasting-power is about 4-5 hours on me. I wish this could have been better, but alas.

Initally, I picked this one up primarily for it's Absinthe note, for I've always been very fond of Absinthe and it's scent. And I'm very pleased to inform you that it indeed smells of a true Absinthe!

From what I've read from others - the anise, violet and liquorice root mellows down and settles into a smooth, cool and woodsy scent after a few hours. This doesn't seem to be the case for me. I get to keep the notes - as they are on first spray - throughout my wear. Albeit a bit warmer.
I presume it depends on your skin chemistry.

Overall, this is a wonderful scent for those who love fresh, cool and unisex fragrances.

The bottle is lovely to look at too, though the cap could have been made of glass rather than plastic.

An Anise Bomb
This opens with ANISE. Anise and absinthe are at the front, with a green patchouli. There is a strong bitter green woody note, it smells like the inside of a still-green twig. There is a subtle smokiness as well... As it dries the bitterness settles a bit and it gets a sweeter and smoother. A bit like herbs steeped in sugar syrup.
It is not inviting, but there is something very powerful about it. A poisoned dagger of a scent.

DARK FOREST OVERLORD!
So I was scared of this frag for the longest time until I wore it out by accident. It's bloody beautiful and surprisingly great, even in humid and hot weather. It's a spicy, forest green scent, not cloying or headache-inducing at all whatsoever and develops beautifully on my skin. There's an authoritative, androgynous air about it with the anise and absinthe, like some kind of dark fae forest commander. Lasts you the whole evening but don't overspray on this one. Definitely very bitter and not everyone's cup of tea, kind of recalls Mississipi Medicine a little but much smoother, more well-balanced and sophisticated. I like it! Absolutely wearable but requires confidence to pull off.

Still, really expensive. I got a 10ML of this for free at a Kilian PR event but I would hesitate to pull the trigger for a full bottle.

Anis candies at its finest
So! Bam! There it is! Long sought, finally found! Just as intense as I was looking for the roasted almond with cotton candy scent of the Christmas market or the fair, I was on the hunt for a perfume that captures the scent of the candy stands. Those stands with the light yellow anise candies that you can smell from afar.

Last week, I smelled the liquors from Kilian at Breuninger. I was actually only interested in Angels Share because I had heard a lot about it (thanks to the hype ;)) and I knew it would fall into my taste profile.
Of course, I also wanted to get to know the other two. Apple Brandy didn't quite convince me, and then completely unexpectedly, the fanfares went off in my head. Or the flourish. Or the violins, or everything at once. When I smelled "L'Heure Verte | Kilian," my heart truly opened! There it is, the anise stand to spray on. I was about to take the bottle with me right away, but reason prevailed. Because usually, I test a perfume several times first to see if I like it on myself and want to wear it.
Now I sit here with my sample and keep sniffing at my wrist.
The anise stand top note could have stayed beautifully linear for me. But the development is still very appealing.
After the sweet - licorice anise candy opening follows the violet-licorice liqueur. Everything becomes a bit darker, more serious, sharper. While in the afternoon you bought the anise candies at the Christmas market and enjoyed the scent, the evening follows in a dark, cozy bar, sitting on nostalgic, solid wooden chairs, the scent of absinthe hangs in the somewhat dusty air, and in the glass, which naturally looks like the bottle, is this noble drop of licorice liqueur. The scent has something incredibly alluring about it. The sweetness and sharpness in the fragrance are not contradictory; they complement each other very well.
You stay in the bar for a long time and can't find the end because the atmosphere is so captivating and pleasant that you simply don't want to leave. Late at night, the last drops of liqueur still linger in the glass, exuding this warm, soft, licorice-sweet scent.
In this atmosphere, surely one or the other didn't go home alone ;).

For me, this perfume is absolutely underrated.

Excellent green boozy scent, the absinth makes it very unique and mysterious. Nice outside the box option for a collection.

It opens with an alcoholic green absinth and a liquorish anise. Then it turns woody with a hint of sweetness. Herbal, spicy, earthy, warm.

Absint-liquorice are addictive in the opening. Sweet patchouli & earthy, but clean, vetiver are the main player even after 8 hours. Unusual

A scent w/ uniqueness - opens sweet-green w/ absinth opposed by licorice; dries somewhat herbal-aromatic. Clear masc lean, a bit light imo.

A warm and salty, spicy earthy-woody Winter fragrance, with a pronounced and boozy/sweet, herbal spicy-green opening. Very masculine.

Authentic, bittersweet absinthe in the opening. Drydown is lightly woody, mildly sweet, and powdery.
