The Song of Achilles (La canzone di Achille)
Intrigued by an advertising banner that recommended a visit to the famous "Regia Villa Degli Arconati" on the outskirts of Milan, I took a tour on their website, and I imagined a virtual tour. The villa is architecturally similar to the Palace of Versailles, which inspired the architects. The visit includes a guided tour of the palace rooms, and on a beautiful day, the natural light of the sun enters through the large windows and expands to all the frescoed rooms. I imagine what the days and nights spent in that palace during the 1600s-1700s could have been like. At the end of the tour, it is possible to access the immense garden, which is well cared for, and full of evergreen and flowering plants. I sit on a bench, and amid the stillness, I resume reading a book, "La Canzone di Achille", a novel set during the Greek Heroic Age. It is an adaptation of Homer's Iliad as told from the perspective of Patroclus. The novel follows Patroclus' relationship with Achilles, from their initial meeting to their exploits during the Trojan War, focusing on their romantic relationship... It's May; now and then, a breath of wind rises, carrying the bittersweet notes of orange blossom mixed with those of the rose gardens that line the paths. There was a thunderstorm during the inside tour, and now the earthy notes of grass, wet moss, and wood warmed by the sun's rays rise from the damp ground.
Suddenly I wake up and recover from this trance state. I'm in my house, and there are no longer the substantial frescoed halls, the gardens, etc. But I still smell that austere scent made of citrus blossoms, roses, vanilla, and patchouli. And I realize it comes from the back of the hand I sprayed Femme Florale on.

This small and precious jewel opens floral with austere tones of rose petals drowned in bergamot peel, oranges, and mandarins. Imagine a potpourri of rose petals and dried citrus peels, darker and dirtier than modern patchouli, that reveals itself amid the initial explosion. It is a beautiful rose, important, imposing, and very fashionable. So intense and deep, virile, neither too soapy nor too powdery. And the citrus fruits and peels are creamy, not sour or harsh. Instead, the soiling of the patchouli leaves gives it a very masculine, androgynous momentum. And in all of this glow, the bittersweet note of orange blossom adds a touch that might feel gooey, but in a good way.

The middle stage comes with a creamier accord with plenty of rose and jasmine blossoms. It is so creamy and sweet, as if the yellow ylang-ylang was part of the bouquet. Perhaps that's the mellifluous edge I get in the mix. The rose is wet, covered with dewy raindrops, with no mineral or metallic edges. The combination of the rose and patchouli is quite exciting, and I can't help but experience this in other perfumes before.

As the perfume grows, some grassy and musky accords rise from the warm skin. There is a bit of sweetness among those earthy nuances and a cozy touch of coumarins from the tonka and vanilla blend. With patchouli and musk, I get a green and herbal vibe from the vetiver. I readily admit that I am fond of scents featuring rose petals and patchouli leaves.

The bottom line is that Femme Florale was a delightful surprise from the beginning. When I saw the bottle on the shelf, with some roses engraved on the glass and a pale rosy essence, next to its sibling Fleur Noir, my mind expected a redolence akin to Chloé (2007) Eau de Parfum. In lieu, Femme Florale recalls the dark sides of Coco Mademoiselle Eau de Parfum. It is a pleasant smell, not too feminine despite the gentle blossoms and sweet, warm spices, thanks to the dirty touches of patchouli. Well composed, with no synthetic corners, I can wear it daily, during workdays, the weekend, and the evening outdoors. It has that kind of aroma that makes me reach for it during spring and fall months and even summer nights. If you are anything like me and don't care about market strategies or bottle shapes, you will love wearing this "Homme Fleuri" because fragrances and ingredients have no sex. It's just a matter of flavors. I am utterly unconcerned about the consequences of wearing feminine marketed colognes.

I base the review on a 60ml bottle I have owned since May 2022.

Beautiful Everyday All-Rounder
Since I have been so impressed by the scents "Belle Icône | Câline," "Madame Chérie | Câline," and others from the brand Caline, I acquired all 12 women's bottles and was able to extensively test all the fragrances from the brand, including FEMME FLORAL.

FEMME FLORAL is said to be a dupe of the signature scent of many women and a bestseller, "Coco Mademoiselle (Eau de Parfum) | Chanel." Since Coco Mademoiselle Eau de Parfum is my mom's signature scent and I also own it, I have been smelling Coco since my youth.

I must say that after spraying it and allowing some time after application, the Coco Mademoiselle Eau de Parfum DNA is clearly perceptible. Of course, there are certainly some differences here and there, but if I didn't know better, I would be inclined to think it was Mademoiselle.

Like the Chanel bestseller, FEMME FLORAL is also a pleasant, beautiful, and everyday-appropriate scent that can be worn wonderfully in the office or at work.
It doesn't bother anyone and is perceived as a pleasant fragrance by most people.
The mix of vanilla, orange blossom, bergamot, jasmine, patchouli, and rose is likable, although I can't directly say which note is the most dominant.

Overall, it's another fantastic scent from the Hamburg brand Caline that is perfect for office life.

As expected, the longevity and intensity of the fragrance are not bad at all. I have encountered other designer and niche fragrances that offered less longevity and intensity than Caline scents. Sure, you have to spray a few more times, but for just about €6 for 60ml, that's not a problem.
If my Calines ever run out, I will definitely repurchase them :-)

It's a lovely rose, important, imposing, and very modish. So intense and deep, virile, neither too soapy nor too powdery. Don't ask, wear it

Coco Mademoiselle fans will take notice here.
Well copied, you can't complain for under €7. Differences mainly in the drydown.

Femme F. is a great dupe for Coco M. It even reminds me of the vintage version. Plus, there's a note of Fleurissimo at the start.

It leans towards Coco M. Edt., is softer, finer, and milder. I find it very successful and beautiful.

A Coco blend of the finest quality. Smells really great of orange, jasmine, and patchouli. Unfortunately, it doesn't last very long, but still TOP !!

I also smell a mix of Coco Noir and Coco Mademoiselle. The longevity is great for me. On clothes until the next morning.

Going in the direction of Coco M., but different and softer/subtle. A safe choice you can't go wrong with. Longevity isn't impressive.

Little sister of Miss Coco, almost pretty, though
it will always be overlooked, the delicate, pale child. But it keeps up.

Similar to Coco M. but also not quite. If anything, a noticeably softer and more everyday-friendly, more wearable version for me.
