A quick-change artist..
First of all, I am a true fan of Memo. One of the few manufacturers where the creations and their quality for me is always a smooth 10. Even though I may not be a fan of the individual fragrance, almost every creation of Memo can trigger some kind of fascination with me. Almost every Memo fragrance tells an exciting story. Sometimes I like the story from beginning to end, sometimes only the beginning or sometimes only the end. Exactly so it is with Luxor Oud...
Well, Luxor Oud would have from the beginning bad cards with me because my "Oud time" is actually long gone... I was for years almost obsessed with oud as a fragrance, now my tastes have changed and oud I can now smell difficult, if then only subtly... I think I've just had my fill of oud. Nevertheless, I would have to test of course the Luxor Oud, alone because that is from Memo and because I would not have tested the fragrance yet..
Luxor Oud starts with a hurricane of pure oud. But it is not at all an animalic oud but rather bright and slightly spicy. The first 20 minutes not at all mine. Too masculine, without sensuality, super woody with extremely much oud and a sharp tangerine..
But the fragrance is a quick-change artist, because after about 30 minutes, the fragrance transforms into a totally different direction. Suddenly, the fragrance becomes much much softer and the oud suddenly plays a subtle but still noticeable role. The scent becomes increasingly sweet and takes on a super interesting note. I suddenly smell a pink scented rose, cypriol and a super nice tonka bean... A scent you have to be patient to follow. After about an hour I smell a beguiling sweetness that almost goes towards marshmallow. Just like it smells when you enjoy marshmallow on a spit over an open fire. Sweet, slightly woody and a bit smoky .Simply delicious....
A creation that you really should test, because the transformation alone is a masterpiece. Whether the may move in with me I do not know, for that I have to test the fragrance just a couple more weeks. I suspect the me in the length will be too woody but for people who love sweet / woody fragrances definitely worth a test..
