Englishman in New York
A tall and slim gentleman wearing a long dark coat with a perfect British aplomb is walking on the streets of the Big Apple , populated by lots of "macho-men" wearing bomber or black leather jackets.
He's alone, He's different, He's refined and classy. Just like the Englishman in New York mentioned in the famous song by Sting .
This is what I imagined looking at 2My Sir"'s bottle and smelling its bouquet.
In a very refined fumé bottle there's a very classy scent involving your nose and your body in a wonderful citrusy-aromatic-spicy cloud.
First of all, you smell the opening citrusy-spicy notes, with a solo of ginger and rhubarb similar to the one of the Brandford Marsalis' soprano sax in the Sting's tune. Vibrant and refined.
Then, a warmer peppery heart develops its character but it's immediately balanced by a very british lavender touch. Finally, a wonderful amber-patchouli base where the notes aren't too strong, , earthy or too "masculine" , but just suggested, giving a deeper touch to this so good balanced bouquet.
This is the secret of a longlasting scent never resulting heavy and perfect to be worn at the office too or everytime you want to feel different but with discretion.
I tested this scent on my feminine skin too and it was wonderful: it develops almost incensed notes and the peppery-spicy accents give their best .
Last but not least , the affordable price, because class is an attidute and not a money matter.
So, citing the last lyrics of the famous song, if you feel a gentleman inside, give a chance to this scent and "BE YOURSELF, NO MATTER WHAT THEY SAY"

Oh My Sir, yet another Sauvage clone?
To begin with, I added this one to the wish-list while ago, and then I forgot about it, until yesterday evening. I was looking on the shelves of a perfume store hunting for something new when my glance was captured by this cologne, which was resting in between other supposedly female's scents, yet the name "My Sir" made me doubt about a feminine fragrance.
The bottle was gracefully tinged from top to bottom and decorated by a serigraphy hot screen printing in relief. The capsule, also black and signed by RB, recalled the bottle geometry magnifying its shape. So, I gently asked the clerk if I could test it and... a blast of bright citrus fruit blended with dark notes of dirty patchouli punched my nose. Gotcha! I was right, the bottle was stored on the wrong side, that precious gem was definitely a masculine target scent. Smelling the paper strip was not enough, so I generously sprayed my skin with that mysterious juice.

Just right of the bat, it has a very fresh atmosphere of powdery bergamot, zesty and sour grapefruit, and a tad of rhubarb with spicy accents of ginger, which are not overwhelming, yet counterbalance very well the citrus fruits. The presence of the patchouli spontaneously kicks in, it is sumptuous, it adds the right depth, you cannot miss it.

Let the top notes calm down a bit and black pepper along with aromatic lavender tones take control of the heart. The lavender is dominant, is more similar to the French quality lavandin than the English lavandula, it has that typical aromatic, camphorous, and green temper.

But, if the opening is bright and fruity, and the heart is all about aromatic, where it shines is in the drydown. It has like a Powerade blue scent that lingers, it has the best and most attractive dry down smell. The black amber, which is allegedly the synthetic ambroxan, and the earthy patchouli envelop the perfume in a shadow of mystery.

This is an EDP for self-confident men, truly elegant and sophisticated gentlemen. It is suitable for dating, dinner, and night out, it can be worn in any season, yet I would prefer fall and winter cold nights. Interesting to know, if you look strictly at the pyramid notes you'll see that most of them are in common with Dior Sauvage. Is My Sir a clone of Dior Sauvage? No, I wouldn't say that, yet it has the same vibe, with the unmistakable pepper-lavender-ambroxan accord. Is My Sir a replacement for Dior Sauvage EDT? Yes, it is, and it is worth it, 100ml just costs less than 30 bucks.

No "Stopgap"!
There are fragrances that are casually regarded as "fragrance twins" to this or "clones" of that, simply because the scent concept, whether intentionally or not, is somewhat similar. They are so to speak "stopgaps" when fragrance A or B is too expensive, no longer available, or something of the sort. While this does have its justification, some "affordable lookalikes" are indeed treated "unfairly." This one is no exception. The way this Italian scent unfolds, which for me represents a dark green-lavender-spiced amber fougère, I had only Eucris Eau de Toilette and Sauvage Elixir in front of my nose. However, "My Sir" is softer than Eucris and darker than Sauvage, less "peppery" and "ambery" than the other two. I cannot call it a "blend" of both either.
The lavender here is "topped" with "hot" ginger and cool citrus fruits, while being dark-woody and earthy from "below." This creates a quirky, "elixir-like" fragrance. It has a fine sharpness and possesses both deep bitterness and a touch of sweetness. And above all, it is NOT a stopgap!!

A blast of bright citrus fruit mixed with dark notes of dirty patchouli hit my nose. Then aromatic lavandin and sweet ambroxan play the game

Dark fougère scent in deep amber green. Similar to Eucris Eau de Toilette, but unique. Warmer & softer. GOOD

With the accord of the ZINOs, just more wearable and elegantly interpreted in fresh greens. Could be more complex. Not groundbreaking.
