I did expect more from Rochas

This a simply combo of cedar and cacao.

Opens with a burst of citruses, then join the cacao and then fades out to a generic cedar base.

Sillage and projection are close to skin. Lasting power is average, about 4 hours.

Somehow Nice

I bought Désir by Rochas as a blind purchase for a small amount of money. Somehow this fragrance completely passed me by, and so I was surprised when I saw it standing in a branch of a discount department store.

So, how does Désir smell? To sum it up in one word: nice! And we know what nice usually means. The little sister of....., but let's leave it at that, because this olfactory desire isn't that bad after all.

After a rather unspectacular opening with fresh notes and a hint of anise, Désir develops its restrained oriental charm. Throughout the entire fragrance journey, there's this "I've-smelled-this-before" feeling.

From the heart note onwards, the scent is then subtly sweet-spicy with a tendency towards woodiness. The longevity is rather mediocre for this type of fragrance, and the intensity is very subdued.

All in all, a nice fragrance creation with a tendency towards the generic.

If you know the olfactory history of the house of Rochas, then Désir unfortunately disappoints even more. This nice fragrance creation cannot hold a candle to scents like Macassar or Globe.

Désir is by no means my biggest mistake in purchases, but it will unfortunately never be a fragrance that I will wear with conviction. It will most likely end up as an air freshener in the bathroom.
