Entry level female or female leaning scents 3

Hello there! I'm looking to further expand my repertory and I want to try some scents that are classified as female leaning or full blown female, because I believe scents dont really have gender and Im trying to sort of open to it. I have used with good results Light Blue Eau de Toilette and Chance Eau Fraîche Eau de Toilette . But I have tried Miss Dior (2021) Eau de Parfum and that was maybe a little too powdery and floral for me.

Thanks!

I love that you're doing this @wallls183

Do you have any favorite notes currently, to narrow down fragrances to recommend?

Yes, mainly Iris, cardamom and watery notes

Angel's Dust is super feminine and iris forward.

It starts with cardamom and changes to an aqua floral scent.

An overwhelming majority of my favorites are listed as either unisex or masculine, and I'm not sure if that makes me a good or bad person to take advice from on this particular topic, buuuuuut...

Agua Drop. I find it perfectly unisex, but it is listed as perfume for women, so what do I know. Bitter bergamot, leathery resins, crystal clear spring water. It's not sweet at all, fresh and delightful. Both me and my male partner wear it and it's equally gorgeous on either of us.

For something more classic and a bit sweeter – L'Eau d'Issey Eau de Toilette. Green and aquatic, lush and humid; very floral, but not overwhelmingly so. Like a fantasy meadow after a light summer shower.

Earth is listed as unisex on here, but most perfume shops where I live list it as a perfume for women. Understandably so, because it's a somewhat heavier floral scent, and the florals are mimosa and violet – which are locally associated with older women. Think something your grandma would wear back when you were a kid. And that is true. It does smell like that. It's also absolutely gorgeous – green, earthy, super wet. Like a fairytale garden on a summer eve just after it rained. Again, both me and my male partner wear it, and on both of our bodies it's delightful.

I believe everyone regardless of their gender deserves to smell like they just stepped out of a fairytale ٩(ˊᗜˋ*)و ♡

Iris:

Fleur de Peau Eau de Parfum has a lovely Iris in it's composition, marketed towards both genders by the way, but I feel as though it leans feminine. Beautyful.

Infusion d'Iris (2015) Eau de Parfum is a lovely Iris, but....still not sure if it is about nose-blindness, but I can't smell it after one day of wearing it.

Aquatics:

Eau des Merveilles Bleue is marketed towards women, but perceived as leaning masculine by some women. I find it unisex, leaning feminine.

I second the Chanel Chance line as a good start. Chance Eau Tendre Eau de Toilette is feminine - floral - light. It gets compliments, works well in different seasons and transitions nicely between daytime to nighttime.

Seconding Infusion d'Iris (2015) Eau de Parfum: it’s the perfect iris gateway since it’s simple enough to highlight the powdery (and aaaalmost rooty) sides of iris with a clean, soapy background that adds a nice contrast to it. The whole Celine discovery set was the thing that made me an iris addict so that might be a good thing to look into!

No one does iris as beautiful and fascinating as Guerlain and Chanel, and even though you might not like these, they’re a worthwhile sniffing experience:

- Après L'Ondée Eau de Toilette (dreamlike iris and violets)

- Comète (glorious musky lipstick iris)

- L'Heure Bleue Eau de Parfum (spicy, brooding iris full of melancholy)

- La Pausa Eau de Parfum (my favorite green iris)

- N°19 Poudré (powdery iris that’s borderline white floral)

And just for good measure: Iris Poudre (dreamy iris) and Molecule 01 + Iris (woody iris) are wonderful!

You’re doing a great thing by opening your horizons – you’re definitely in for a lot of great discoveries. Have fun!

A lot of mentions of iris so I’d add Iris Malikhân to that list. Wonderful smelling tangible iris.

Are you familiar with Chanel’s Le Lion de Chanel and Coromandel Eau de Parfum ? They used to be targeted at women but now they’re unisex I believe. Great patchouli stuff.
