The search for the "Ui!"
Summer in a bottle.
I wanted to add nothing more and nothing less to my manageable fragrance portfolio.
Can't be that difficult, I thought to myself. I know what I like,
i thought to myself...
Well, to summarize, I must see my search as a path to knowledge: Because I have realized that there are obviously many more fragrance nuances that I do NOT like, i.e. those that I would like to perceive on and around me over a period of several hours, on several days, ideally spread over several months and years. (Congratulations to all conquerors of this sentence monster.)
Many really good and undoubtedly well-made creations crossed my nose. It was often just little things that made me sigh "hmjanöirgendwiednoch" at the end of the day.

Torino 21, for example. Good, fresh, but a bit too much mint, thank you.
Uden? Hach...yeah no...it's too citrusy at the start.
Oltremare perhaps? Oh, tea - great. But not this tea.
Ok, then another tea? Wulong Cha?
Yes, but no. It's missing no idea what, but it's missing.
Erba Gold - too fruity.
Acqua di Sale - is that sage? No? I think it smells like sage.
(By the way, I'm not linking the fragrances because I don't want to, but because it's not working right now.)
Imagination, Renaissance, Greenley, all good to very good, but still not what I was looking for. My nose is obviously a bitch.

But long story long, while browsing through the reviews I stumbled across Birkholz's Corsica at some point. I had already been there, it was great back then.
Sighted the fragrance notes, got curious.
Top notes with the classics bergamot and lime, plus mint and violet leaf. So far, so good. Reads like 90% of all summer refreshes at first.
Heart notes of lavender and rosemary. I like that, ok. Plus plum (drawing in air through my teeth, I hear myself thinking "uh, could be too sweet") and ... Sea salt? All right, they want to evoke aquatic associations, let's give them a break.
Base notes moss, musk, sandalwood.
No experiments. Sounds solid.

So I ordered an original fragrance sample from Birkholz (and received 6 more), took a deep sniff after the first evaporation on my arm and thought "Wow! That's a good one."
Second sniff: "It's really good! I hope it doesn't tip in any direction that I don't like again."

It didn't. Hooray! What I smelled was a feather-light, fresh, non-pungent citrus with barely perceptible but still present mint. No in-your-face freshness that screams so loudly until the last person realizes that it's supposed to be a summer fragrance. Perhaps it is also the very slight sweetness of the plum that rounds it all off. However, if I didn't know it was there, I wouldn't recognize it. Fortunately.
The fragrance doesn't change much later on. None of the ingredients push themselves rudely to the fore. The citrus fruits quietly fade away at some point, but continue to beckon on the horizon until the end. Musk and sandalwood gently cream my nostrils.
Sea salt? Moss? Hmm, difficult. Could be that they were there. But in the end I don't care, because all in all this is the summer fragrance I've been looking for for so long.

I close my eyes and walk along the stony country lanes of Corsica again. I can't see the sea yet, but the wind tells me that it will soon appear majestically on the horizon. More sultry words spill out of my amygdala, but I manage to regain control and get back to the point.
The longevity could be better, but couldn't it always be with fragrances from this genre?

So, whoever has made it this far is my hero. Thanks for hanging in there.

I am a little bit in love
The Corsica from the new French Collection by Birkholz somehow appealed to me. With its fresh, citrusy, aquatic impressions, this fragrance is perfect for summer.
However, everything here is somehow so soft and delicate that Corsica comes across as wonderfully elegant. It also has a very subtle sweetness and the listed sea salt is not immediately noticeable to me, but it does give the fragrance a certain "vacation by the sea" flair.

The fragrance starts directly with these great fresh, citrusy and aquatic impressions.
However, as mentioned above, everything seems so soft and delicate.
It's definitely not a pungent citrus bomb. This mix of lime, mint, bergamot and violet leaf is simply very finely crafted. The notes harmonize perfectly with each other.

The whole thing is also accompanied by a very subtle sweetness The sweetness is also super subtle. The listed sea salt adds to this vacation character. But don't worry, it's by no means a salty fragrance if you don't like that.

Towards the end, you can feel this very creamy sandalwood on a good portion of musk.
However, the fresh impressions can still be recognized, albeit much more discreetly.

Not much more happens then.
In other words, it is a fairly linear fragrance. But as I've mentioned many times before, I don't find that bad. I actually quite often like these linear progressions, especially in summer fragrances.

In conclusion, Corsica is definitely worth testing.
I personally really, really like it. It was the second fragrance I was able to test from Birkholz.
The first fragrance was Portraits of Portofino, which I also liked very much.

In France and yet...
... but on a wonderful island in the Mediterranean. We are talking about Corsica. Mountain air with the saltiness of the sea, the green of the forests and the radiant sun over the island. Infected by the good humor of the people and the beauty of the landscape, it is simply wonderful here.

If you apply this fragrance in the morning, you are transported to the beautiful wildness of Corsica and the first thing you notice are the citrusy notes, the green of the violet leaves and the freshness of the mint. This is slowly followed by the aroma of sea salt, lavender, rosemary and the fruity sweetness of plum, which is only very subtle. This fragrance is rounded off with the green of moss, musk and the woody of sandalwood.

This fragrance is masculine, but not so masculine that ladies can no longer wear it. I still see it as more for men.

The longevity and silage are not bad but not outstanding either.

This fragrance can be worn for any occasion, whether in the office, during sports, at a meal or in a club. It is a wonderful subtle fresh fragrance.

For those who like that kind of thing, Birkholz perfume could be perfect.

A summer's day in Korsica
I discovered Corsica by Birkholz a few weeks ago and since then it has been with me almost every day. The fragrance starts with a pleasant freshness that immediately reminds me of Mediterranean coasts - citrus notes that are not too intrusive, but elegant and balanced. After the fresh opening, an aromatic warmth quickly develops that makes me think of the sun, salty air and wild herbs.

What I particularly like: Corsica manages to be both invigorating and relaxing. It has something masculine without being too heavy or too dominant. The sillage is moderate, but remains easily perceptible throughout the day without me having to constantly spray it on again.

For me, it's a perfect all-rounder - it goes just as well in the office as it does in my free time or on a summer evening out with friends. Corsica never looks out of place.

What I also appreciate: The fragrance is authentic and of high quality. It's not a mass product that you can smell on every corner, but rather an insider tip that has already earned me one or two compliments. Anyone who likes fresh yet characterful fragrances should give Corsica a chance.

Birkholz has really created a fragrance here that, for me, captures the essence of a relaxed summer's day.

Fresh sea or cold shower?
I ordered Corsica as part of a trial set with high expectations. It's supposed to be a fresh fragrance, aquatic and invigorating without being too sweet and fruity. Sounds good, just right for the warm spring and summer days.
The result? Yes, fresh. Slightly citrusy, mineral. Plus a few green notes. And no, not too sweet. Just as it should be.
And yet, the fragrance doesn't grab me. Because to me, Corsica smells like any fresh drugstore shower gel "Fresh - For Men" for 2.99.
Now the question is whether Corsica simply hits the spot or whether I have the wrong expectations? Because I'm missing complexity or an exciting progression. Corsica remains linear, fresh, non-distracting, clean and subtle. Just like a generic shower gel ..

Smooth and refreshing. Seemed perfectly unisex on my skin. I don't get any plum.
