I want to like it. Really
The opening is very beautiful.
The base is smoky, spicy, sweet.
I can clearly understand the parallels to Layton.
However, what happens in the heart notes I can only describe as unfavorable.
Rose, pine, and guaiac wood can be detected upon closer sniffing. Together, they evoke the association of toilet contents after a night of heavy drinking.
The scent walks a tightrope between dark, mysterious grace and falling into the pit behind the thunderbox. Without focus and closed eyes, my nose cannot manage to smell the former.
I probably need to test how the scent translates in the sillage. But I'm not sure if I dare to do that.
