The fact that the logo of the fragrance and cosmetics brand "Atkinson" features a bear is unusual, but it makes perfect sense. James Atkinson was already researching recipes for cosmetics, care, and toiletries long before the company was founded in 1799. In the process, he often used a balm made from bear fat. The first best-seller that James Atkinson and his brother Edward launched was a pomade that also contained bear fat. "Atkinson" produced its fragrances and cosmetics in southeast London with such success that James Atkinson was appointed chief perfumer at the Court of St. James in 1832.
After the First World War, "Atkinson" increasingly focused on cosmetics and perfumes instead of hair pomade. When the brand then built the Atkinson Building in London because of its great success (1926), personalities such as King George IV, Admiral Lord Nelson, the Duke of Wellington, and the Russian Tsar were already among the select clientele.
In the middle of the 20th century, it became quiet around the brand "Atkinson". At the beginning of the new millennium, the brand changed hands several times until it was finally acquired by "Procter & Gamble Company" (P&G) in 2008. In 2013, the brand's products were then relaunched. Since then, the perfumes, scented candles, shower gels, aftershaves, creams, and all other items are sold in specialty stores in America, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East.
