Gentle Approach
He slowly strolls towards the girl,
His masculine aura has a subtle metallic note.
As he gets closer, she notices a faint scent of alcohol.
He wants to speak to her,
but instead of words, a bubble of gum pops from his mouth.
She bursts into loud laughter.
He turns around and walks away.
What a shame, she thinks,
because in the air lingers a gentle hint of vanilla,
like a shoulder to lean on.

Mysterious Love
Every review here about this fragrance gives an impression. I have enjoyed reading many reviews. None of them, however, come close to capturing the scent for me. And I strongly suspect that I will not succeed in doing justice to the fragrance either.

The first word that comes to mind for Gold Fair in Mayfair is "Incomparable." I have never smelled anything that even remotely goes in this direction.
Upon the first spray, I am indeed hit in the face with absinthe like a full-on assault. I immediately get absinthe and a hint of sage. At first, this has something between schnapps, mouthwash, and a refined creaminess for me. It might sound off-putting, but it's amazing. I don't know why.
After that, the fragrance begins to settle. A wonderful combination emerges of very prominent sage, soft cocoa, a hint of woodiness, and an iris that adds an elegant and polished impression to the whole.
Gold Fair in Mayfair skillfully balances between "in your face" and "subtle understatement." The scent leaves numerous question marks in my little brain. The notes alone seem to me like they were thrown together randomly. And yet, they create such a enchanting overall picture.
I must admit, it didn't convince me right away. I tested it often, and each time I thought to myself, "Hmm, nice and very unusual, but is it perhaps too unusual for me?" In the end, my husband answered this question for me. After I had circled the bottle in Breuninger for the hundredth time, he suggested that I should finally take the fragrance home.

The bottle doesn’t need many words, or perhaps it does need quite a few. It feels wonderfully valuable and heavy in the hand. The gold is far from inconspicuous but also far from kitsch. The tactile experience of the cap and bottle is a dream as well. Unpacking it almost brought a tear to my eye, as I found the whole presentation so beautiful.
The price is also, for me, a truly successful price/performance ratio.
The longevity is fantastic; you easily have it all day without needing to spray 138 times.
The sillage is also an absolute paradox for me with this fragrance. Something between close to the skin and noticeable.
In conclusion, Gold Fair in Mayfair is a beautiful riddle in every respect.

How it happened by chance...
...I came across this fragrance. Atkinsons was not a brand I had celebrated much before. I had tested a few scents from this house in the past, but none of the releases really blew me away. It's not that they smell bad, but none could trigger a desire to purchase. Some are a bit closer, but still not quite there.
I got a sample of this Gold Fair in Mayfair through an order that included it. Of course, you "have to" test the free samples, not always with high expectations. With such a sample, you are naturally more excited than with the usual mainstream samples. It was love at first sniff. It's wonderful to find great fragrances without really having them on your radar.

Shortly after the first tests, I had to get a bottle. Fortunately, Atkinsons' prices are quite reasonable compared to many niche brands. You can get 100ml for just over €100, with a retail price around €180. It's definitely worth it for this wonderful sweet-sensual scent that you can wear almost all the time.
This fragrance is a limited edition. Here under Interesting Facts, it states that only 2000 copies were produced. I doubt that, as that really isn't much for the whole world. Maybe just marketing.

The packaging is extremely high-quality and can compete with much more expensive brands. The fragrance comes in a large box that can be opened. In the center is the Atkinsons logo. The gold bottle is, of course, absolutely masterful. For me, it's the most beautiful one I own, as this gold is absolutely beautifully adorned. Great look!
The more important aspect is, of course, the scent, which is also absolutely convincing. The fragrance goes in a direction that I totally love. This scent roughly resembles Initio Rehab. Not in terms of fragrance DNA, but this clean sweet scent type that never becomes too heavy. Listed as a twin is TF Noir Extreme, which I think is a bit further away, but anyone looking for an alternative to this will likely not be disappointed.
If you're looking for a sweet fragrance that never becomes too heavy yet performs well, you will absolutely find it here. The opening slightly reminds me of Enigma Parfum Cologne. It has a slight cola vibe along with a slightly boozy absinthe note. Nutmeg comes through beautifully and has a very cozy and sensual character. In the heart note, gentle cocoa, fresh sage, and a bit of iris follow, which never becomes too powdery. The perfect mix of pleasant sweetness and relatively fresh spice. The fragrance sits beautifully on the skin and is already a kind of feel-good scent. In the base, ambroxan and incense join in. A pleasant incense note that is never too smoky. The DNA of the fragrance changes only slightly throughout, and the scent is actually always pleasantly sweet-spicy with a catchy note that lingers in memory. For me, in cool to mild temperatures up to about 18 degrees, it's a fragrance you can wear anytime, as it never becomes too intrusive despite good sillage.
Performance is also top-notch with over 10 hours of longevity and quite good sillage. A great overall package for such a pleasant scent.

Overall, for me, it's a perfect unisex fragrance that impresses with sweet-spicy sensuality and convinces me as a feel-good scent throughout its duration. An absolute seducer that will surely receive many compliments.

noble liquid gold
Actually, I'm not a fan of gold, but this gold is something else. It lures you in, it captures your attention, and then you're already caught in its web :) This is true liquid gold that not only looks expensive and noble but also smells just as good. It's simply impossible to highlight a solo singing (or dancing) chord. All the notes are intertwined here and are perfect just as they are. The perfume is sweet at the same time, but not too sweet; it is milky chocolate caramel, but the flowers are also present and contribute. Even absinthe cannot be overlooked here. It's not so easy to be immune to its charm. This scent knows very well how to handle intoxicating temptations. You have to be really careful, otherwise there's a much higher risk of losing your head. I did warn you :)

Very, very close to …
the PERFECT scent … or the “Holy Grail”.

I'll start with the bottle. The bottle is a work of art in itself. If it is indeed handcrafted, as described here, it would deserve a 12 out of 10. Top class!
And if only 2000 were produced, then I’m glad I have one of them!

The scent is what a golden bottle deserves. All components have been combined so nobly and in a coherent and harmonious way. A delight for the nose (or do we say a caress for the nose?).
For me, sage, absinthe, and nutmeg stand out. The scent is sweet, beautifully sweet.
When I usually smell spicy scents, I’d like to skip the first hour.
This scent is an absolute dream from the very first spray.
I read: always wearable without exception.
I can absolutely confirm this (also for women!). Summer or winter, spring and autumn.
During the day at the office or also in the evening for going out. It’s not loud … but that’s exactly what makes it so noble and elegant.

Finally, and quickly something about the longevity: unfortunately, it only lasts 5-6 hours, but during that time I like it so much that I accept it and spray it twice a day. It doesn’t matter because the top note is simply amazing.

Absolute test recommendation … also for perfume lovers who usually don’t care for spicy scents or are just beginning to discover their passion for spices.

It starts with a green (absinth) bubble gum and cocoa, but never too sweet. In the drydown, the powdery iris and the nutmeg take place.

Outstanding creation. Similar to TF Noir Extreme however way smoother, less sticky sweet and more masculine. For me a win trough and trough

So if Rehab by Initio is the niche version of Spicebomb, then this is the niche version of Rehab! Buy it - come what may ;)

The most beautiful twist I'm experiencing right now. Goldie starts spicy with absinthe and incense, then transforms into sweet, warm love. Sigh..
