...I came across this fragrance. Atkinsons was not a brand I had celebrated much before. I had tested a few scents from this house in the past, but none of the releases really blew me away. It's not that they smell bad, but none could trigger a desire to purchase. Some are a bit closer, but still not quite there.
I got a sample of this Gold Fair in Mayfair through an order that included it. Of course, you "have to" test the free samples, not always with high expectations. With such a sample, you are naturally more excited than with the usual mainstream samples. It was love at first sniff. It's wonderful to find great fragrances without really having them on your radar.
Shortly after the first tests, I had to get a bottle. Fortunately, Atkinsons' prices are quite reasonable compared to many niche brands. You can get 100ml for just over €100, with a retail price around €180. It's definitely worth it for this wonderful sweet-sensual scent that you can wear almost all the time.
This fragrance is a limited edition. Here under Interesting Facts, it states that only 2000 copies were produced. I doubt that, as that really isn't much for the whole world. Maybe just marketing.
The packaging is extremely high-quality and can compete with much more expensive brands. The fragrance comes in a large box that can be opened. In the center is the Atkinsons logo. The gold bottle is, of course, absolutely masterful. For me, it's the most beautiful one I own, as this gold is absolutely beautifully adorned. Great look!
The more important aspect is, of course, the scent, which is also absolutely convincing. The fragrance goes in a direction that I totally love. This scent roughly resembles Initio Rehab. Not in terms of fragrance DNA, but this clean sweet scent type that never becomes too heavy. Listed as a twin is TF Noir Extreme, which I think is a bit further away, but anyone looking for an alternative to this will likely not be disappointed.
If you're looking for a sweet fragrance that never becomes too heavy yet performs well, you will absolutely find it here. The opening slightly reminds me of
Enigma Parfum Cologne. It has a slight cola vibe along with a slightly boozy absinthe note. Nutmeg comes through beautifully and has a very cozy and sensual character. In the heart note, gentle cocoa, fresh sage, and a bit of iris follow, which never becomes too powdery. The perfect mix of pleasant sweetness and relatively fresh spice. The fragrance sits beautifully on the skin and is already a kind of feel-good scent. In the base, ambroxan and incense join in. A pleasant incense note that is never too smoky. The DNA of the fragrance changes only slightly throughout, and the scent is actually always pleasantly sweet-spicy with a catchy note that lingers in memory. For me, in cool to mild temperatures up to about 18 degrees, it's a fragrance you can wear anytime, as it never becomes too intrusive despite good sillage.
Performance is also top-notch with over 10 hours of longevity and quite good sillage. A great overall package for such a pleasant scent.
Overall, for me, it's a perfect unisex fragrance that impresses with sweet-spicy sensuality and convinces me as a feel-good scent throughout its duration. An absolute seducer that will surely receive many compliments.
