House at the edge of the forest
In my youth I lived on a manor house - and the half-timbered house stood directly on the edge of the forest.
Although I'm actually a late riser, I was immediately wide awake when I opened the windows in the morning and the smell of the forest came into the room.
The air was so fresh and clean and full of green spices that nothing could keep me in bed.
I grabbed the dogs and paid my respects to the forest - my faithful guard.
Past ivy-covered fences, the way led me into the quiet coolness of the trees.

The sun's rays fell bundled through the branches - and painted mystical signs on the forest floor.

So I walked ahead of them - the dogs always with their feet - and I saw many a deer grazing peacefully
