Sporty Grapefruit
Is it just me, or are sport flankers getting better as the years go by? I was expecting to be bored silly by Boss Bottled Sport, however I'm surprised to admit that I'm actually enjoying it.

Boss Bottled Sport opens with a gloriously refreshing grapefruit accord. This grapefruit top note is less sour than it is in other perfumes, and is quite sweet and invigorating on the skin. Most fascinating to my nose is the appearance of the aldehydes, which provide a soft, powdery quality, that somehow works.

Cardamom and lavender in the heart keep this fragrance smelling masculine and spicy. I adore the scent of lavender on my men, so this fragrance works a treat. I am almost tempted to suggest Boss Bottled Sport to my boyfriend this Summer.

The original Boss Bottled is a real hit with the ladies, so it's no surprise that Boss Bottled Sport evokes a similar reaction. I'm actually shocked that this flanker isn't more popular. I believe that many men may be avoiding it just like I did, thinking that it's just another boring, sport-inspired flanker. Not so, folks!

Like any scent that is gym-appropriate, Boss Bottled Sport has a fairly light projection, however the longevity is applaudable. To my female nose, it smells both fresh and sexy. I highly recommend.

Did it really have to be this way?
It seems to be an ironclad rule that every mainstream brand has its sport fragrances. Hugo Boss has just released one, specifically in the Bottled line. The Hugo Boss brand strongly connects with the scent experiences that people have with shower gels from Axe and Co. This is mass-appealing, always works, and in some cases, the commissioned perfumers have indeed achieved great things in this field. The Bottled fragrances are not that bad, especially Bottled Night has rightly gained attention on Parfumo. After such a good predecessor, one is eager to check out the new Bottled Sport.

Well, unfortunately, Boss Bottled Night cannot be compared to Sport. It’s a dilemma with sport fragrances - if you know one, you know them all. Again, it’s a thin, synthetic note with a citrusy touch that characterizes the scent and only slowly fades away - accompanied by a boring, ordinary, and somewhat scratchy background. I don’t feel much development beyond that - the fragrance feels static and lifeless. Just something to tick off, this is by far the weakest scent in the line. I don’t want to smell like this, and I don’t want something like this near me.

Fragrances like Boss Bottled Sport are the cheap filler sold to the uninformed and inexperienced. However, Hugo Boss can do better. Those who generally like the direction represented by Hugo Boss and are looking for something light and fresh would be much better off with Boss in Motion Edition White. It has already survived for 3 years and is - unlike other variants of the In Motion line - still in the range. Quality usually prevails, even at Hugo Boss.

Yuck, it’s sticky! Even with the rather arbitrary topic of sports, one of the most annoying scent suppliers fails miserably. Forget the pyramid you see above; in this overly sweetened generic slush, you won’t find either lavender or vetiver, and unfortunately, not even sport.

Sport fragrances may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but most of them have at least adhered to the honor code of providing a fresh breeze for fitness enthusiasts. Not so with Boss! The latest flanker of the already questionable original scent smells like a mix of last year's Boss Orange and asleep feet, so the same recipe of fermented mushy fruit and clumsy chemistry lab concoctions that fogs up the Dougis and Müllers of the republic year after year. As usual, slightly cheesy and pre-warmed.

Of course, we knew not to expect much here, but such nonsense is truly extremely annoying!

Sport is not murder after all
Actually, I’m not a fan of sports and I agree with Churchill: Sport is murder! But since today, there’s an exception: Boss Bottled Sport.
And actually, I’m not a fan of sport fragrances either. But again, there’s an exception today: Boss Bottled Sport!
It’s brand new on the market and fresh is its keyword! Well, fresh is probably what all sport fragrances are, but the new Boss is particularly so.

I tested it today at Müller completely unbiased and ... Woooooow!!!! The grapefruit opens it with a sporty, fresh breeze. I immediately think of the sea ... High waves, beach, sun, and cool cocktails. Boss Bottled Sport inevitably reminds me of Cool Water in its base note, just that it’s not as heavy and overpowering. I also perceive a touch of Chopard’s Heaven. It also reminds me of Nightflight before the reformulation. However, it has nothing in common with the original Bottled and the Night version. It could just as well be a completely new Boss fragrance. Then the lavender comes to the surface and gives it a certain fullness and seriousness that I miss in many sport fragrances.
The longevity, however, is not really impressive, at least on my skin. I tested the fragrance around 4 PM and by 9 PM, there was almost nothing left to smell ... However, I still perceived it very intensely on the test strip for a long time.

I did find one negative point: the price! About 74 euros for a 100 ml bottle at Müller seems quite steep to me. Were the original Bottled and Bottled Night also that expensive when they were first released?

Otherwise, the new one from Hugo Boss clearly stands out from most sport fragrances for me. I would rather describe it as a summer fragrance than a pure sport scent. Soooo, now summer can come ;)

Nostalgic (Alpine) Dream
Now I would like to express my thoughts on this long-lost and forgotten fragrance, although I will be defending my position quite alone. As bad as the reviews are here, I must say I do not find it that way. But hold on! The gallows shall wait until I have spoken.

It all began with me as a child, who always stopped at the fragrance shelves of the drugstore. But this one captivated the little boy in the duty-free shop at the airport, while waiting for the long-awaited first flight. And so it happened that I finally received this masterpiece after one of my father's next long business trips. It was my first perfume just for me, and I was correspondingly proud to wear it every day.
To defend my father here, I must mention that he was never as much of a fragrance enthusiast as I am, and thus he simply bought this scent for me after I expressed my liking.

So this perfume was my daily scent for the next few years, which I would not have traded for anything. But over time, I started to collect a few more drugstore fragrances, so this one was not used as often anymore. Thus, I eventually got on the right track and began using higher-quality perfumes.
But I hope you understand now why this little scent from Boss cannot simply be dismissed with a wave of the hand. It has simply carved out its own place in my nose and brain. This fragrance is linked to so many memories for me that it has probably been rated too highly because of these two points. However, I find this synthetic fresh start very pleasant. It radiates familiarity for me, just like Acqua di Gio probably does for many others in connection with their father or grandfather.

And yes, it quickly transitions from the fresh start to the skin-close phase, as is known with many Boss fragrances. The transition from heart to base note also happens extremely quickly, and after a short time, I only smell a mixture of lavender, vetiver, and a bit of tonka bean.

After about 4-5 hours, it’s over, and you have to start all over again to enjoy it once more. No, joking aside, I can understand if someone does not want to own this fragrance. And I wouldn’t either if I hadn’t experienced so much with this scent. But it is simply too important to me for me to part with it.
Moreover, I find the bottle simply too beautiful not to look at it from time to time.

Now you know why this strange fragrance is in my collection, along with some relics from the drugstore.
Don’t worry, you don’t have to endure this scent yourself, as it has not been produced for quite some time.

So now that I have shared my thoughts and explained my journey to perfume, it’s up to you to either pack the gallows away or let it reign. I really hope it is clear why I feel this way about this perfume; perhaps you also have a "nostalgic scent"?

A hint of nothing. Lightly spicy shower gel freshness with a strange sweet deodorant note. Completely synthetic.

Smells like a synthetic soap but you know what? Even my soap has got better performance. Sillage of 1cm and longevity of 15 min. Pathetic

In the foreground is an extremely synthetic citrus followed by the usual lavender. A soapy clean guy without staying power.

Horst Schlämmer (a.k.a. Hape K.) uses it after his shower, when he has tortured himself at the gym once a year. Synthetic fitness drink.

My relic from the sport flanker era around 2010. Still lying around here. Today it smells like Maggie, back then it was an undefinable citrus.
