A touch of nothing - I like it!
My collection now contains a lot of fragrances from the Bottled line. Some are redundant, some are absolute hits. Tonic is one of the former. So why am I not disappointed!!!
Well, as with many things in life, moods are often a question of expectations. And of course, the type of fragrance you like and/or need also plays a role. I added Tonic to my collection for a very specific reason: I needed something light for a summer vacation. Nothing that would fill up rooms, nothing that wouldn't come off my skin. And above all, it had to be light. Anyone looking for something like this should be able to put this tonic away as a blind buy, because it's definitely suitable for that!
It starts with light citrus and OG DNA. The apple is not as sweet here, so it tends to blend in with the fresh, citrusy start. Admittedly, the opening is a little alcoholic for a short time, but this quickly subsides
The citrus doesn't last long. From the drydown, which begins after 20 minutes, it is only subtly retained by the ginger. Tonic then becomes a slightly woody, floral Boss fragrance that smells exactly as I imagined it would. Realistically 4-6 hours, but with good body lotion and a bit of ISO E super-layering I've gotten 8 out of it.
No matter how long it lasts: it's never loud, it's close to the skin. And that's what I needed. But I can also understand anyone who says that's not enough. As I said, it's all a question of why you bought it and the expectations that go with it..
