Phantom with Surprises
Here it is, this extremely rare Limited Edition, consisting of 75 ml of AS and EdT at a very fair price. I personally can't remember ever crossing paths with this colleague in the 80s/90s. Thanks to this community (Nasenmann and Hordak), I have now been able to fill this gap.
Release year probably before 1993? Quite certain, as it was distributed by Eurocos, noted here with a four-digit postal code, and just in 1993, postal codes in Germany became five digits.
So we are most likely dealing with a variant of the first Boss men's fragrance (before it was renamed Boss Number One), thus with the original formulation. And here comes the big surprise. The term "Concentrated" is initially misleading. One would spontaneously expect a "puffed-up," even louder version, but that's far from the case: "Concentrated" should be taken literally here. What is offered is a kind of essence, in which the bright and loud notes of the original fragrance have been toned down, creating a much more harmonious scent progression due to the absence of the peaks. Also, longevity and sillage are nowhere near as frightening as with the 1985 version.
For those who find the original too honey- and patchouli-heavy (which I can totally understand), I recommend giving this fragrance a sniff, which emphasizes the spicy and woody-leathery notes without denying or distorting the DNA of the "standard version." Unfortunately, "Limited" here also means exactly what it implies, as Boss Concentrated is now almost impossible to find.
