Unique scent
The Scent Absolute for Him is the first that I've tried in The Scent for Him collection. I had to google Maninka fruit and found that it was first used (in any perfume) in the collection's OG in 2015. Of course, I have no idea what Maninka fruit smells like and have to assume what I'm getting from Absolute represents it.

The opening is a bit sharp and spicy, from the ginger I guess. As it dries down, it starts to get smoother and earthier - the Maninka fruit I'm assuming. I don't find it to be a very sweet-fruity type of scent, more of a earthy-fruity scent, if that makes sense. It strikes me as very masculine. However, overall, it doesn't really resonate with me. Not bad, just OK for me. I can see though that for the right guy who likes the Maninka fruit scent, it could be a great fragrance - even signature worthy because it's unique.

Performance was quite good. Got about 2 hours of decent projection and with a noticeable skin scent still at the 10 hour mark.

One of the best in this line
Right off the bat ginger and maninka fruit are noticeable. As the fragrance dries down the ginger lightens up and you begin picking up a bit of dustiness from the maninka. If I can describe how the fruit comes across is its wispy, nothing overwhelming or obnoxious. The sweetness all throughout is tamed, unlike a lot of synthetic sickly sweet designers. There may be some vanilla here but nothing that can be perceived as cloying. Works great with a suit or a casual outfit. Leans night time use, if anything. Versatility still deserves a 10.

The vetiver at the base is predictable which may be boring for some because there isn't much else going on at this point. So I suppose one of the downsides of Absolute is the simplicity of it. It's quite linear. However, despite that, I don't get sick of wearing it and I've noticed people tend to enjoy the smell. It's nice from start to finish. It is very easy to like, and for the price, you really can't go wrong. 7-8 hours longevity with decent projection. Definitely worth sampling

Sexual chocolate......
"Ladies, put ya hands together.......
for MR! RANNNNNDY WATSON!
.
This scent doesn't need much introduction, it's Hugo boss & the DNA is there. The old man'ish kind of vibe. The spicy, slightly boozy, bold, very masculine DNA.....
This fragrance separates itself, in its chocolately disposition. The ginger kind of amplifies everything under it. Gives it spice with the masculinity to boot, the Mondia root gives it this vanilla undertone that makes it almost boozy. It's smooth & not as synthetic as most other gingers can give off at the top.
.
It dries down close to the skin after/around hour 2. It will get compliments but it isn't a compliment monster. It will project a little but it doesn't have that beast mode quality you might expect in an 'absolute'. I would wear it in any setting that requires close encounters. Could be worn anytime of the year but I'd save it more for fair weather but if your planning on wearing it inside, I guess that weather doesn't matter.
.
"Everyone, that was SEXUAL CHOCOLATE!..........SEXUAL CHOCOLATE!"

Inoffensively somewhat unique...
Had to get my hands on some Boss stuff and this was one I was looking forward to. I was intrigued by its somewhat unique fruitiness that I kept reading about.

The top opens with some ginger that seems somewhat powdery to me. Nostalgia time: the top reminds me of walking through a department store fragrance section in the 1980's and 1990's. That isn't a bad thing or necessarily a good thing, more positive that not because it's pleasant and those are good memories. As that fizzles out to reveal a more fruity forward note, I get that sort of weird... I mean... unique Maninka Fruit... or so I think. It's odd but not bad. Further drying down with a cleanish vetiver scent with the fruit playing along for quite some time.

This isn't the most complex scent in the world, but it's fairly good. Like a lot to notes, the notes above are accurate! It didn't blow me away, but if Boss is your thing, you probably will like.

Recently in the Scent Pyramid...
... up top great, down below not so much!

The Scent Absolut - this fragrance marked my entry into the world of perfume last autumn.
Since I had never worn a fragrance before, I asked the store manager for recommendations. We men are known to be easy to handle when shopping ;)

After the umpteenth test vial, I was already thinking about how to politely say that I really should be going...
Then she pressed the Absolut into my face and shouted: "Stay put!"

Wow, this one is really nice. Somewhat "boozy" without being too alcoholic. And delicious, orange, soft, sweet, with a hint of chocolate. I sniffed it several times and took it on my arm + test strip.

After the delightful winter opening with orange, an intense cocoa/bitter chocolate scent emerged. It also had a somewhat cinnamon/vanilla vibe, although that's not what the scent pyramid suggests. Possibly triggered winter associations?! The chocolate was definitely dominant and over time developed a slightly leathery/smoky note. The gourmand aspect was replaced by more masculinity.

So far, so good. The top and heart notes were mouthwatering. I estimate that around 4-5 hours in, the base notes started to come through. However, this is where things took a turn for the worse. I detected a strong leather smell. It became increasingly unpleasant. More like I just impregnated my leather boots with paraffin. Yuck!

My wife immediately insisted that I take a shower. Unfortunately, that only helped to a limited extent. So, hours 5 to about 7 were a test of endurance. After that, the scent collapsed into an undefinable mishmash.

Since I liked the first part so much, I organized another bottle from a different drugstore and tested it again. Similar results: great, warm winter opening and then yuck! Since I dosed it myself this time, the impregnation smell wasn't quite as bad. The collapse of the fragrance occurred just like in the first test, around the 7-hour mark. It was still detectable the next day, especially on clothing. Although it smelled significantly better on fabric, it also fell apart there.

What a shame. Perhaps the Absolut works better on different skin. I wish you all the best!

I also tested the other two "scents" on test strips, but I must say that the Absolut left the best impression. If the base notes weren't so catastrophic on my skin, I would have definitely bought it, as it gave me a wonderful winter feeling.

At least I realized during my first fragrance shopping experience how important it is to spray samples and observe what happens over several hours.

The bottle in the store made a solid impression, nothing rattled. Neutral design in brown, and the sprayer delivered a good result. The performance was on par with what is typical. If you count the unpleasant and mishmash phase, it could even be considered good.

In terms of sillage, I would say it's average. The top notes were somewhat perceivable at arm's length. After that, according to my wife, it was about 1 - 0.5 arm lengths. However, when coming in from the cold and opening your coat, you shouldn't stand in the mist area, as that can be quite a punch ;)

Maninka defo creates a unique fragrance. Sweet but subtly spicy. Fruity but not edible. It's nice, can be a little headache inducing

Imagine Private Accord as the sweet chocolaty version and this as the dry spicy version of The Scent. Sophisticated and alluring

Yes, it has the typical HB DNA, but I still like it the most out of the HB scents. Spicy and fruity. Unfortunately, it turns sweet towards the end.

Aromatic/spicy in feel. Dressed in an elegant bottle and one of the more wearable from the Men's The Scent line. H&S is also fine.

Super scent, very long-lasting and intense. Lasts all day. Initially very spicy and later strongly reminiscent of dark vanilla. TOP

The Scent Absolute is absolutely fantastic.
The sweetness of the Maninka fruit combined with the spice of ginger is a true magnet for women.

A spicy scent with Boss The Scent DNA. The last decent flanker from the line, unlike Pure Accord and Le Parfum.

Yawn.. Typical Hugo Boss DNA. Nothing new, except that "Hugo Boss - The Scent" is now wearing a Christmas sweater instead of a suit. Looks better on him anyway.

Creamy. First sweet-feminine, then woodier The One, but after 6 hours, cheap synthetic sweetness. What a shame. At its core, it has potential.
