Unknown but noteworthy and above all wearable leather-tobacco scent
Wow, what have we stumbled upon here by chance?
I must admit that L'Atelier des Bois de Grasse was completely unknown to me until now. A look at the homepage provided hardly any more information than the description of the individual perfumes. So far, there are five in total. All in 100ml. All are supposed to represent luxurious colognes. And all sound consistently interesting. So, it can't get more of a blind buy than this.
Therefore, I was all the more curious about what to expect after unpacking. Normally, I'm not one to describe bottles, sprayers, etc. in detail. But for this fragrance, I’ll make an exception.
The bottle is definitely great. Heavy glass, nice label, classic round shape, and a snug lid in leather look. There's nothing to complain about here.
Then it’s time to spray it on my arm. The sprayer. Wonderful. Nothing gets stuck. No stream. The right dosage. It also disperses nicely wide. Again, there’s nothing, absolutely nothing to criticize.
So how does it smell? Right from the start, the tobacco and leather are present in their full bloom with a slight woody undertone. This is subtly accompanied by something fruity, perhaps floral. This takes away the harshness from the tobacco and leather that one knows from modern leather scents (TL, Dark Rebel Rider, etc.). In my opinion, this is well done. This fragrance doesn’t come across as so intrusive and is, in my opinion, more wearable. The iris with its powdery dryness does its best to contribute. However, it hardly makes a noteworthy appearance. Now, after about three hours of wear, the vanilla is slowly joining in and mingling with the tobacco and leather. Everything is nicely balanced and mixed. Nothing here is sharp in the nose.
The longevity is really noteworthy for a cologne. No wonder given the ingredients. The sillage is nicely pronounced, but by no means as intrusive as the big leather powerhouses of our time.
I also find it interesting that the scent at the sprayer comes across significantly fresher and fruitier than on the skin.
A truly very interesting perfume that I have discovered. A probably young company that has created a very wearable, elegant leather-tobacco scent here, which at least for now, hardly anyone has.
Best regards
