An unexpected love?
I’m learning that I’m a big fan of chypre scents. I absolutely adore the combination of florals and fruits, but especially when you add a patchouli or moss note. Even though I’m not crazy about moss, I’m seeing (or smelling rather) that when done right, it can add such beauty and grace to fragrance.

The composition of Honeysuckle & Davana is very simplistic and the scent stays linear from start to finish, but it has a gorgeous depth. The davana is both aromatic and fruity, while the honeysuckle offers the bulk of the white floral/green scent that this has. Then the moss comes in and adds the gentlest touch of earthiness. It’s actually so stunning. I tried this at my friend’s place the other week, and I was shook as I continued to sniff it on my skin throughout the afternoon.

It’s giving effortless beauty, old money, and quiet luxury, and I think it’ll be an absolute stunner in spring/summer heat and for cooler rainy days. Performance isn’t too bad either, especially for a Jo Malone. It’s not a huge projector, but it stays well on the skin for a good 6+ hours and carries beautifully with the wind. I’ll definitely be getting a 30 ml / 1 oz when it gets warmer out.

Spring in a Bottle
Super light, and airy floral scent! In my opinion it shines especially well during the spring months when the weather is still slightly cooler. In warmer weather this becomes slightly sweeter on my skin. However overall the fragrance has a very clean and fresh, almost soapy, sort of feeling! An easy reach and staple in my collection.

Summer Garden in a Bottle
Yesterday, I had the luck to grab a bottle of the Turquoise at the Malone stand while passing by. It is not yet available for sale, I heard from the saleswoman, but I was allowed to test it. Since it hasn't been discussed here yet, I will give it a try.
I certainly can't pick out the individual notes like many here, but I can convey my impression.
I do enjoy floral scents, especially in summer, particularly when they come across as somewhat natural, which is also the reason why I liked Malone; I say liked consciously, as the last creations didn’t really excite me. Fortunately, this one is a bit different.
The scent is indeed very natural, floral, I won't say: flowery, as it has a certain lightness that makes it fit well into summer. Without the familiar citrus opening, I still experience it as fresh. Honeysuckle, goat's beard smells wonderfully lush, almost a bit tropical; a plant of it grows in front of my window. In this respect, the scent seems to be truly captured here. Now, it is also said to contain Davana, no idea, so I consulted Wikipedia: pale-leaved wormwood. Well, I know kitchen wormwood, which is not exactly a fragrant herb that would fit a floral scent. But the description mentions a woody-sweet scent, also: warm mango scent, which doesn’t drastically change the goat's beard. Indeed, if you know it, you can imagine mango; there is certainly a slight fruitiness present.
I actually like the opening the best, as the scent appears light and permeable without being banal. After that, it becomes greener; one would say that the stems and leaves have been added, which makes it a bit more angular. At this stage, it is also wearable by men, which I wouldn’t say for the opening. After that, the scent doesn’t change much anymore. The base is said to contain moss, but if you expect oak moss or something chypre, you are mistaken; the scent merely becomes a bit warmer. Very pleasant, slight sweetness, but not excessive. A lovely summer scent that surely won’t offend and is enjoyable to smell on a woman. However, it loses some of its naturalness over time, and it becomes flatter.
In between, I thought of APOM, but that one is still higher quality, going deeper. However, it is not a twin.
Longevity is not bad at all, for me over 4 hours, which is a lot for me, then only perceptible with the nose to the skin. I can only estimate the sillage, but it doesn’t overwhelm anyone as expected.
Conclusion: finally, a Malone that I enjoyed, even if it won’t be joining my collection.

Honey Plant to Spray On
Hey hey and welcome to a new comment from me. Today it's about Jo Malone, a brand I have introduced several times in the past. I do like this brand, even though some of its fragrances seem quite simple to me. However, this simplicity is sometimes intentional, as the scents can be layered, but even on their own, some of these fragrances smell just great despite their simplicity.

Aside from that, I always enjoyed chatting with the saleswomen in the Jo Malone section of the store (yeah… talking to saleswomen is something I can just about manage… *sigh*), unfortunately, there has only been a guy hanging around there for months now… argh :((( I always have such bad luck… at least this Jo Malone guy doesn’t try to make me sniff him like the Dior guy does, who sprays himself with the Dior Privée scents and then asks me to sniff him to see how great the fragrance would smell. Again, ARGH!!! :DD

Well, Honeysuckle & Davana is one of the newer fragrances that was released last year. Regardless of my comments that the scent would smell so feminine and even a bit trivial to me, the aforementioned gentleman in the Jo Malone department was so enthusiastic about it that he kept trying to convince me how great this fragrance was… :D

The Scent:
I smell floral sweet notes at the beginning. Silly as I am with flowers, I still don’t know anything about the scent notes of flowers after over 1500 comments… :D That’s why I’m not quite sure which of the listed plants emits this slightly herb-spicy and distinctive scent, but I’m pretty sure it must be the Davana. Because alongside it, a sweet-floral note appears, whose sweetness reminds me of honey, and this must be the honeysuckle, as I just read that honeysuckle is said to smell like honey (and nectar).
A few (few) hours later, it then smells continuously sweet-spicy until the honey-sweet scent in the base gradually disappears and the fragrance seems a bit drier. In the later base, it smells more herbaceous, with hints of earthy patchouli. I think that’s when it’s time to reapply the fragrance, as it comes across as a bit trivial to me personally.

The Sillage and Longevity:
The sillage is rather weak and therefore only really detectable from close up. The longevity is six to eight hours, after which you only smell a faint breeze of dry-earthy scent notes.

The Bottle:
The bottle is high-quality as always. It is rectangular with thicker glass and a large white label with a white frame, displaying the name and logo. The cap is oval-round and chrome-plated. All in all, quite nice.

So, I referred to this scent as trivial during the scent description, but that doesn’t mean it smells bad. I also don’t mean that it smells generic, as it doesn’t smell like every other fragrance and has its distinctive points. It does smell quite nice, but it is also kept rather simple. Nevertheless, I think it should appeal to most ladies, as you sweet-toothed ones are known to be crazy about honey, and the fragrance radiates a light, beautifully honeyed sweetness without being overwhelming or too heavy-spicy. I like it too, but it hasn’t knocked me off my feet like some other fragrances from this brand. But maybe it can be nicely combined with other scents! And perhaps you will like it much better than I do.

If you don’t want to layer the fragrance, then it is, considered on its own, a light scent that would be great for spring and summer, serving as a nice and good everyday fragrance. Therefore, I do recommend trying the scent, especially now that the days are slowly getting warmer again.

So, that’s it for now. Let’s see what else Jo Malone will release soon, but I’ll probably have to chat with that guy again instead of a sweet saleswoman… *sigh* :DD

I wish you a lovely evening, until next time! :)

Sun and fun in a bottle
My first Jo Malone. Sweet, flowery, powdery, inducer of good mood, white flowers, playful, awesome projection and durability. I would recommend to buy the small bottle because one only needs a little quantity for each use. I wear it pretty much all seasons, except the very hot days(it can become cloying). In winter it brings the long desired warmth when applied.

Those around me immediately said it was like honeysuckle, very authentic. Good quality and projection. Very feminine, not so unisex.

Realistic honeysuckle, very lovely. I prefer wearing by itself but it can also be good layered with JM Peony & Blush Suede.

Very fine! Honeysuckle (always a blend) is more noticeable, Davana, which I really appreciate, in the background: fresh green.

Fam. Tester M would give it a 7.5 and said I'm snobbish. I think it has honeysuckle, but somehow it feels hollow. But I am snobbish.
