Crisp greens and light airy florals
On my skin this is a beautiful sweetly floral waterlily fortified by crisp green notes (hints of freshly cut grass among others) and dancing in a cloud of white musk. Ylang Ylang is subtly present, providing it's slightly sour fruity note deep in the background. As the fragrance dries down, warm vanilla creeps through as if playing peek-a-boo.

A new favorite!

a sweet-scented summer night
This somewhat atypical Jo Malone fragrance seemed to want to come to me.
Recently, I came across a bottle of "The Bloomsbury Set - Whisky & Cedarwood" on eBay.
I had tested this fragrance several times and commented on it based on the experiences I had; the prices were just too outrageous for me.
But this time it was meant to be, and the seller, still a novice in this sales arena, asked if I might also be interested in a leftover "Garden Lilies" from this seasonal series.
I was, and she packed this bottle for me.
I would like to express my gratitude here: that is very, very kind!

"Garden Lilies" reminds me of the evening scent of white lilies, whose petals bend back when fully ripe, showcasing the thick yellow stamens.
According to the listed fragrance notes, this floral sensation seems to be more attributed to the white musk and a generous portion of warming vanilla.
I have never consciously encountered fragrant water lilies, so I must tread on unfamiliar ground here.
A green note, on the other hand, does not develop for me at all; perhaps I am simply too fish-bloody for it to dare to come out.
Be that as it may: this Jo Malone fragrance is very full and rounded right from the first acquaintance.
Ylang-ylang ultimately makes it shine; this makes it even a bit more extraordinary.

This year's limited fragrance collection "The Bloomsbury Set" by Jo Malone differs not only in the artistic design of the bottle from its classic predecessors.
Of the three of the four scents from the set that I now know well, "Tobacco & Mandarin", "Whisky & Cedarwood", and now "Garden Lilies", the last two actually have a slightly longer longevity.
They lack the fragrant lightness of the other fragrance variants, to which I also count "Tobacco & Mandarin".
This makes frequent reapplication unnecessary.

"Garden Lilies" is a very warm, feminine fragrance that evokes memories of one of the first cozy summer evenings on the terrace or in the Hollywood swing, while the frogs croak in the dark garden.

The Little Sister of Mimosa
When one cannot deny the family resemblance. Right upon spraying the fragrance, I felt vaguely reminded of something. Again and again, I inhaled the scent until I realized - it was another Jo Malone fragrance. Garden Lillies is unmistakably related to Mimosa & Cardamom by Jo Malone. It is like the little sister, a bit younger and fresher, but it carries a similarly lovely undertone.

Bottle:
The Bloomsbury Collection deviates somewhat from the usual Jo Malone design with its bottle. While the classic shape has been retained, the cap is colored and satin-finished, matching the overall color scheme. Unfortunately, this makes the cap somewhat prone to scratches and small dents. The bottle is adorned with a colored background in a geometric style, meant to remind of the inspiration for the collection - the Bloomsbury Group. In the case of Garden Lillies, this color scheme is in shades of blue.

Scent:
Garden Lillies is a fragrance that shows little development and maintains its delicate and lovely note for several hours. Thus, the naming with just one fragrance note is truly fitting. While in Mimosa & Cardamom the tonka bean is very dominant, in Garden Lillies the vanilla holds back a bit. It does not overpower the scent but accompanies it throughout with its creamy sweetness. Meanwhile, ylang-ylang and the water lily provide a freshness that does not become too aquatic and has a very delicate floral quality. The musk stays quite subdued, presumably it is what keeps the vanilla in check. In today's time, where fragrances often seem heavy, artificially fruity, or extremely sweet, I have rarely experienced a scent that radiates spring as much as this one.

Longevity and Sillage:
The sillage of Garden Lillies is very close to the skin, like many of the Jo Malone fragrances. Nevertheless, it lasted exceptionally long on me. Even after 5 hours, I could still perceive it.

Conclusion:
For those who find Mimosa & Cardamom a companion in the cooler seasons, they will discover a wonderful fragrance for spring or even summer here.

The scent of a well-kept London flat with upcycled furniture and a beautifully blooming wild garden behind the kitchen. I'm moving in!

Very floral Malone scent; a bit out of the ordinary with Ylang-Ylang, vanilla, and white musk. This series is a bit exotic.
