Green Floral Soft (MUD VII)
Jo Malone has very distinctive fragrance creations. So too 'Carrot Blossom & Fennel'. I am not familiar with the scent of carrot blossom, even though I grew up in the countryside and also grew a lot of vegetables myself; the carrots, or 'Goibe Ruam' as we say in our dialect, must never bloom, as the root then does not taste particularly good.

'C B & F' starts off very fresh and green. The freshness lasts barely a few minutes before it becomes more soft-green. However, I cannot claim that the green smells like fennel. After about an hour, the scent of a rose gradually emerges, bringing with it a slight sweetness.

The rose is actually the dominant part of the fragrance, not too intense and quite natural. The rose is rounded off by an iris note, which gently fades the scent away.

'C B & F' is for me rather a feminine fragrance, versatile to wear in spring and autumn. The projection is relatively weak, and the longevity is just under five hours.

I thank Mörderbiene for the sample.

Carrot Blossom & Fennel
Carrot Blossom & Fennel surprised me greatly with its revelation: on me, it is a rose in honey.
I don't like honey, but this one smells so delicious, soft, gentle, and not at all bitter! It makes you want to taste it right away.

The violets bring a spicy powderiness that definitely does not smell like drugstore powder! This powdery note sounds like gentle pollen from honey flowers.

The mugwort is not bitter, but rather faded like the summer sun, spicy and languid, in a duet with ripe apricot flesh.

Normally, I get tired of bitter scents - but this one is not like that at all! All in all, it is just a light hint of summer flowers and fruits. The remaining notes are so far just a background. The musk is also inconspicuous, shy, sometimes appearing and then modestly retreating into the background.

This fragrance has truly fascinated me. It has been a long time since a scent has sparked such interest in me.

'...is like grass and shore, like wind and expanse - and like a home.'
So it goes in a church song - one of those newer ones that emerged in the post-war period - about the unwavering love of dear God for his sheep. And although I am not religious (and thus not a practiced, let alone passionate church singer), I have always liked the simple and clear language of 'Lord, your love is like grass and shore' (that’s the title of this song).

Even and especially for lovers of highly complex, sometimes downright challenging perfumes, it is sometimes the simple and clear (scent) language, the scent of grass and shore, that is like wind and expanse - that feels like a home for a moment. Jo Malone's Herb Garden collection employs this language, and Carrot Blossom & Fennel - namely the scent of carrot blossom and fennel - is pleasantly calm and grounded in its simplicity and green freshness.

Vegetable- (or vegetable-connoted) notes like carrot blossom often seem a bit foreign in the context of perfumes. And fennel, which is essentially reminiscent of anise, is one of those polarizing ingredients that you either like or you don’t. All the more fascinating and convincing are the down-to-earth simplicity and yet the unusual and pointedness that Jo Malone hides in this herbaceous-green scent, which is neither a diva nor a show-off - and yet is steadfast in character and beautiful.

Conclusion: a scent full of green-golden warmth and Protestant pinewood circle-ness. 'Nice to have you here. You are something very special.'

Oh dear, for me it unfortunately only has a sweet-sour scent impression. Everything got mixed with a glass cleaner including a softening cream.

Great, green, fresh scent. Slightly sweet and floral-powdery due to the iris.
Perfect for summer. HB+SG could be better.

Rose, carrots, and iris spend 6 hours in the green.

Well done, fennel is spot on, but the rose-iris combo ruins it. Weak H/S are a real plus here.

A rather green-scented fragrance, with fennel clearly noticeable. More suited for spring and summer.

Reminds me of childhood...maybe because of the slightly fruity candy-like note. Nice scent, but not my favorite from the line.
