Surprised
With this perfume, it became clear to me again that although I wasn't fond of the ingredients, just as little as the bottle (which I don't think is really beautiful or elegant), this scent enchanted me with its entire composition.

Powdery, feminine, and not really intrusive.
It wears like silk.

Innovative, creative, relaxed - perfect!
Fresh like an unknown, but not sweet fruit or perhaps a vegetable, not watermelon, not cucumber, but comparable in freshness and with an unusually delicate, aromatic spiciness, Elderflower begins with a surprise.
After just two minutes, it becomes increasingly spicy and now sweetish, but still bright and rather light; I find this impressive scent, after nearly 2000 tested, to be something truly new. It has such a light-footed, effortless harmony that it stands out pleasantly from other scents that are novel: Here, nothing feels forced, flashy, or demonstrative; instead, it simply gives the impression that someone had unrestrained joy in creating a wonderful fragrance and approached it with intuition and cheerfulness.

In the heart note, the unknown, fresh fruit and the aromatic blend with a new, also fruity and mildly sweet, yet by no means sour note into a bright, warm, slightly creamy, effortlessly floating mélange that soothes. Furthermore, all the notes are ones I have not encountered in any other fragrance so far.
The only thing I think I can recognize is a very delicate, light hint of heliotrope.

And with that, we have something familiar to me in two ways: First, the heliotrope, and second, my Jo Malone phenomenon. I have yet to be able to trace the pyramid in any single Jo Malone fragrance. I have tested 11 scents from the brand, and only in one can I - distantly - discover what is listed as fragrance notes (in Tropical Cherimoya).
Perhaps my previous disappointment with this brand is related to this: I do enjoy obtaining samples of fragrances whose pyramid appeals to me. However, this approach has not worked at all with the Malones so far.

In the base, the heliotrope impression and the fruity notes increase slightly, and the very fresh notes from the beginning recede; otherwise, the character remains the same: aromatic, mild, bright, and completely new, fruity, without the fruit feeling familiar to me.
The longevity seems average while wearing it, but the next day I can hardly get my nose off my leather bracelet, which must have received a spray.
I appreciate both the scent of elderflowers, the juice of elderberries, and to some extent the pungent scent of elder leaves. I also like gooseberries. However, none of that is found here.
This time, I have nonetheless received a dreamy fragrance with my choice based on the pyramid, which I will love and wear with great joy.
Thank you, Geschpusi!
I suppose I still need to search further for my elderflower scent.

Edit: I should perhaps add that I tested the new version, that is, the one from 2021. I do not know the old version - should it smell differently.

Witch Bush and Green Stomachache Inducer
I had already given up hope of getting Jo Malone's "Elderflower & Gooseberry."
From the limited "Sugar & Spice" collection from the 2013 season, it is also only very rarely available.
Unless one is willing or crazy enough to pay up to 180.00 euros plus overseas shipping for a nice scent intermezzo.
So I was content with my decant: however, I guarded it very carefully.

My more or less irregular walks here in the souk brought a big surprise: a leftover of "Elderflower & Gooseberry" was offered.
A leftover is enough: even for me, there hasn't exactly been a great drought in terms of fragrance.
Seen, written, and after a few technical difficulties bought on Wednesday afternoon.
Hooray! I could already announce my decant of this calorie-free dessert to a friend.

The letter must have been traveling at breakneck speed; from Horb am Neckar to Berlin in just a few hours: so that works too!

Anyone who has an elder bush in front of their house knows how many possibilities the flowers and fruits offer.
Already in late summer/autumn, picking and cooking the berries is very creative - and usually leaves the kitchen looking like a pigsty!
Elderberry soup - always delicious warm or cold! -; fruit spread pure or with apples and, for example, a few mint leaves perfumed; fine and clear jelly and thick syrup: very good for summer and winter drinks.
This syrup develops particularly well when mixed in a 1:1 ratio with a fine liqueur! (Bottled in pretty bottles, by the way, a popular and welcome gift or souvenir.)
A good harvest keeps us well and healthy through winter and even part of spring. Because a few vitamins do survive cooking.
Glazed or fried elderflowers are a delicacy: if you manage to get rid of everything that has legs and wings.
Thus, elder is not only useful in the kitchen. No, as the so-called "guardian of the threshold," it should also not be uprooted or cut down!
That brings nothing good for house and family; nature keeps a particularly protective hand over this plant.
Not without reason have magic wands been cut at certain lunar phases time and again.
Thus, elder should be honored as a whole.

I love all types of berries, including gooseberries. The large, thick red ones are of course something particularly fine, but the small green berries can also be very tasty when ripe.
And it seems that these small berries were used here.
My grandmother had four gooseberry bushes in her garden, and since I usually spent some time with her during the summer holidays, I regularly managed to stuff myself with unripe gooseberries and then complain.
She could talk, she could scold - I always believed: this time they are really ripe!
(From time to time, my father's stubbornness does come through after all.)
Later, we had rhubarb or gooseberry pies, tarts, and cakes at home - with and without meringue - for Sunday coffee or for birthdays.
The acidity of the fruit and the sweetness of the sweetened, slightly caramelized egg white has something very special.

All these kitchen magic tricks are united by Jo Malone, along with the very sweet lychee, in "Elderflower & Gooseberry."
This scent, which is more sweet than floral, is truly a collector's item.
It is a very special fragrance creation and therefore, with all my sympathy for it, it is absolutely understandable that this purely seasonal plaything did not make it into the standard program of this company (like, for example, "Earl Grey & Cucumber").
The longevity is average for Malone, here perhaps a bit longer due to the sweetness.
For this collection, the well-known narrow, rectangular smooth bottles are used, in keeping with the English understatement.

My joy in this scent is genuine: it simply brings good cheer.
Jo Malone's "Elderflower & Gooseberry" truly spreads a calorie-free cheerfulness!

A light and airy cloud of delicate sweet elderflower meets ripe gooseberries. Zesty, yet warm, silky + creamy. Amazing!

I'm usually not into fruity scents, but this one is perfectly balanced. A bit tangy yet creamy, and I don't find it too sweet.

Calmly herb-sweet, yet complex. Unnaturally milky-sour fruits harmonize excellently with gentle elderflower.

Extraordinary beauty, zesty-fruity, yet very warm & almost erotic vanilla. Long-lasting with many facets. Fantastic!

Creamy floral-fruity delight to love. It lacks a bit of depth, but the scent is lovely and pleasing. Sweetness isn't overpowering.

Summery fruity vanilla pudding. Quite sweet, but not cloying thanks to fresh gooseberry. Perfect for those who love to wear sweet scents in summer.

The gooseberry dominates here with elderflowers and lychee. A very nice treat to spray; it's just fun and makes you crave a dessert.

Delightfully creamy, sweet elderflower. It completely surprised me in a positive way and will definitely be a staple for me next (spring) year.

Authentic gooseberry, could be a bit more tangy. In the dry down, it unfortunately becomes very sweet, and the heart is mediocre.
