Now I need to search more rose & pach thanks to this one!

I have to admit that Kayali wasnt a brand that interested me too much, I didnt have a good feeling about it. The other day I found that my sister has a little discovery set and I wanted to have some fun sampling hehe.

After finally smelling the most popular vanilla perfume (that said a titular Google sent to me xD) this one, Elixir 11, really surprised me!

The pachuli + rose here was like delicious chocolate without being full 100% gourmand chocolate. I dont like apple notes, but here the apple must be a caramelized apple, it was sweet but in a funny and nice way instead of nauseating.

The composition as a whole is a youngful and funny and a little sensual and misterious. It is lineal, but for once I don't t mind it because I love the fragrance. I was surprised with how transparent the liquid is, specially after how dark the vanilla one is, but yeah, it feels transparent in a bright, clean and good way! Which makes it a versatil perfume (I personally would wear it more during daylight because I have darker and more complicated things for the night).

I suppose I have to clarify that I am on my 30s, because I have seen a lot of reviews saying this one is super strong, dusty and mature, so well.. For me is totally the opposite, the duality of the human beings it is awsome!

Also the second time I tried it it wasnt the same, I dont know if it was the surprise factor or what. I have avoided this genre after some disappointing experiencies like that Tom Ford's one, too dusty and dark. I love a touch of darkness and mistery in my perfumes but also some brightness! Now I am very curious of trying more oriental rose + pach because I suspect that the Kayali's perfumes dont have the best quality, but at the same time I don't know if I am going to find something better than that caramelized apple note! That's why I love trying discovery sets

A red apple twist on the classic rose & patch

I love rose and patchouli blends and have a few in my collection. Elixir 11 is one of those, too, but I don't find it all that similar to anything I know.
The red apple makes it stand out. It's really distinct, sweet, juicy and ripe. In my opinion this apple is better than the one in Eden Red Apple. I love the idea of incorporating this fun candy apple into an otherwise more serious blend of rose and patchouli, and I also love how it's noticeable for hours through the drydown.

The patchouli in this is relatively cool and leans woodsy, the rose is dark red and only slightly jammy. Additionally I get a note that makes me think of wooden barrels that had expensive booze in them, but mixed a hint of creaminess. I recognize the same thing in the newer Invite Only Amber and Lovefest Burning Cherry, so I guess it became some kind of Kayali DNA in the meantime.
Even though there is vanilla in the base I don't find this gourmand or especially warm at any point, it's really just a tiny drop of vanilla that makes the scent more full and rounded.

Kayali fragrances often smell like well-known and beloved note profiles with a tiny little twist that makes them extra nice to my nose. I don't love all of them, but their Vanilla, Musk, Sweet Diamond and Utopia work perfectly for me, and Elixir is another one that does just that.

My only criticism is that I imagined something richer from the name "Elixir". This has a certain transparency to it that makes it easy to wear and versatile, at least in the colder seasons. Which is not a bad thing at all, just not what I expect from a so-called Elixir.

Bold partnership between roses and patchouli

Took me awhile to get to this one since it’s not part of the Kayali discovery set, but I finally managed to snag it. To be honest, I didn't know what to expect since I was starting out in fragrances and didn't know what those notes would smell like.

As soon as I sprayed it on me, I fewas swept away. It’s a bold, sensuous partnership between the dark, earthy patchouli and the feminine sweet and bright may rose. Red apples impart a delicate sweet and fruity deliciousness to round out the fragrance. The perfume clearly benefits from not having too many notes. This gives you the time to enjoy every single accord of this well-blended scent. I could feel the jasmine coming up after a few minutes, giving it a creamy almost indolic aspect. Don't be fooled though... Patchouli and roses are the star couple and remain at the front of the scent from beginning to end.

I’m aware this perfume may not be suited for everyone. It’s dark, heady, thick: a great introduction to Middle Eastern fragrances. It’s giving me feminine gothic vibes, but also leather jacket with spiked chains. I have a feeling it could offend people who prefer lighter scents and those that are not accustomed to deep, dark fragrances. I will be keeping it in my collection as a 10ml deluxe mini bottle because I love the vibe it gives off (the black bottle is also absolutely stunning), but it’s a perfume that I will only wear on rare and special occasions.

Full on the twelve !

Actually, I wanted to write something about my current favorite fragrance Vanilla 28 by Kayali today. But stupidly I decided to test the Elixir before to make a statement. That was a huge mistake!

So, after spraying on Elixir I waited briefly ( as I always do) before I took my arm to my nose to sniff. But bääh, what was that ? I tore away my arm startled. But then it was already too late! An extremely intense May rose jumped in my face and gave me one on the "Twelve". I do not know if I have ever tested a perfume with May rose, but this smell had not yet come across me. I needed fresh air and went outside the door. After about 10 minutes, I timidly smelled my arm again and to my surprise, I found the aggressive May Rose has become surprisingly tame. While it is still very present, I now also perceive lovely apple, delicate jasmine and patchouli. The vanilla shows up now and then in a light sweet touch.

H&S are good. More than 6 hours have passed since the aufprühen and I still perceive the scent very clearly and strongly at me ( I had sprayed only 1 time briefly).

The bottle I find very beautiful, the black color, the shape, the stopper worked like a diamond.

In conclusion, I can say for now that I will test this fragrance further. Am still undecided whether I like him or not. Maybe it will still the great love!? In any case, Elixir is a very intense and interesting fragrance that managed to shock me totally.

Addendum on 2.7.21
Have increased my rating from 6.5 to 8. I like the scent much better in warm temperatures ! The May Rose does not develop so much and the fragrance is much more harmonious as a result. Now I also perceive the jasmine, amber and vanilla much more.

Gelayert with Vanilla | 28 is the fragrance experience for me insanely great. These two fragrances go incredibly well together. It creates a wonderful spicy, slightly fruity ,floral and oriental dream with a warm vanilla that radiates sweet warmth from the beginning to the end. A really very successful experiment for me : ))
