Eden Juicy Apple — Kayali: Tart Apples on a Bed of Moss
FINALLY something from Kayali that feels worth a fraction of the hype.
At first spray, Eden is a tart, crisp apple made complex by sweet 'n sour litchi, rich dark berries and brightened up by a hint of grapefruit. After a few hours, it dries down into fruity, sugared moss, more sticky caramel apple in an autumn forest than breezy springtime in an orchard, but it remains layered, beautiful and unique even as the top and middle notes fade.
This is happy, confident, and grown-up instead of the sickly sweet kiddie bubble bath I usually encounter in apple-based scents. It's mature but not old, joyous but not juvenile, unapologetically femme without being too pink and girly. The projection starts moderate and fades to intimate, staying power is good for once from this brand (4+ hours), and it reveals its different dimensions over hours of wear instead of starting linear and just going totally flat.
Is it worth the price tag? Until a truly solid lower end dupe hits the market...yeah, I think so. As a cheapskate, I don't say that lightly! But credit where it's due: Eden is distinctive, and I adore it.
