The most delicious lemon-raspberry cookie.

I expected to like this the least of the Vacay set, but it is 100% the winner for me. It's the sweet lemon icing on a vanilla cookie.
It's not at ALL like Akro Bake (more foody), DG Devotion (floor cleaner), Hufflepuff (more peachy & cakey)... it's honestly like a lemon version of Pink Sugar!
The freesia and musk class things up from just being a childish body splash, while the lemon-raspberry is dusted in fine white sugar. I hope they sell this in big-bottle format because I NEED it. At the very least, I'm happy to pop this in my purse and enjoy on spring & summer days!

Probably the biggest surprise of the collection, to me at least. This is such a happy, zesty, fresh scent; there’s loads of sweet, sugary candy-like lemon in the initial spray so it’s very true to its description, and thankfully it doesn’t smell too artificial or too much like bathroom cleaner, which I feel is always a risk with lemon frags. After a few minutes the vanilla comes through, making this into a creamy, dessert-like delight. My only gripe is that this all fades rather quickly (and I’m talking within 30 mins) leaving behind a more predictable and less interesting combination of freesia and musk. It’s yummy while it lasts, but that quick fade is what would keep this from being FB worthy for me.

A Lysol gourmand flashbang. Lemon? Check. Sugar? Check. Forever chemicals? Check. I love a good synth citrus, but something about Capri didn’t sit with my nose. Maybe it’s the clash between the intense vanilla-syrup sweetness and the chemical cleanliness of the lemon, tightroping the line between sticky and sterile… like something you might use to trap and kill insects with. Curious performance in that it’s LOUD right out the gate and then flees the scene not an hour later. (Or maybe I just go noseblind?). I feel like I should like Kayali. I’m a Millennial born of the MUA YouTube boom. I always check the dessert menu first. I love the unapologetically synthetic. But Capri just had me longing for a hit of Akro Bake.

Mental Snapshot: You’re in Campania and it’s summertime. And you’re an exterminator. It took years in the lab, but the local wasp population hasn’t been the same since you unlocked formula numero quattordici. "Vacay in a bottle!" you cackle, as you spritz the nest away on permanent holiday.

tl;dr: death by sugar

Summery lemon and raspberry delight

I'm a big fan of lemony gourmands. Citrus on its own is often a bit boring to me, but as soon as they add some vanilla or sugary notes, I love it.

Capri Lemon Sugar did not disappoint. You can really smell the fresh lemon, but also the raspberry, which might be my favorite fruit ever. And, of course, the vanilla and sugar!

This is not a sparkling citrus scent, texturally it feels creamy and also a bit powdery on the drydown. It's more like a limoncello (without the booziness) than a lemonade. But what it really reminds me of is a lemon and raspberry bar with a thick custardy cream and lots of powdered sugar - one that doesn't have a lot of baked dough, a light one for the summer.

A hint of white musk keeps it firmly in perfume territory and out of the realistic foody realm. But be warned, this is only for those who have an olfactory sweet tooth. It's not a particularly complex scent, what you see is what you get. Just good vibes and happiness, truly like a vacation in a bottle!

I really hope Kayali will make full bottles of the vacation perfumes soon.

No Cleaning Solution Smell? In MY Lemon Fragrance? It’s More Likely Than You Think

I really enjoy lemon scents but it’s so difficult to find one that doesn’t remind me of laundry detergent or disinfectant spray. I’m fortunate enough to have one of my favs Pink Lemon by Sohum (unfortunately not listed here and more unfortunately discontinued I think) which I’ve been searching for a perfume that smells just like it, alongside a decant of OR/18 by A. N. Other with lemon sugar + spice under a veil of cannabis that’s almost addicting in the sweltering heat.

I was caught off-guard by how good this was AND with decent sillage to boot, like sugared lemon slices in the middle of a lei of freesias. Probably because my only other experience with Vacay in a Bottle, Sweet Banana, gave me an allergic reaction. It’s too bad I tested it during a time when I really need to save money lol
