Maui In A Bottle Sweet Banana | 37 Kayali 2024

Of all the new Kayali “Vacay in a Bottle” scents, this is the one that took me for a surprise. It’s actually a very nice, wearable banana scent for the heat. We can all agree that banana isn’t a note we see all too often in scents, so when I heard the set was being dropped, I was most excited to try this one and Capri (the lemon sugar one - which admittedly, disappointed me).

Mau’i is a soft and sweet banana scent with a creaminess from the coconut cream. The banana initially has a greenness to it, but that goes away quickly. Now, the coconut cream has this beautiful duality that adds a gourmand touch to the scent, but blends nicely with the sandalwood to give it that “beach” and “by the ocean” vibe. It’s not too sweet and I think the florals help to keep the scent from skewing too gourmand (especially with that vanilla in there too). It’s cute and playful, but also exotic and kind of sexy! I think it would layer nicely with other sweet/floral summer scents too.

Not mad at this one at all and wouldn’t mind grabbing another 10 ml or a larger bottle when the one I have runs out. I only have one other banana scent in my collection, so this one is a nice little addition. Definitely worth a try for anyone looking for something different for summer!

The jasmine - coconut and pear notes together smells so musty and funky? Especially the jasmine.
It disturbs the other sweet notes...

Way too present instead of being in the background and well blended. After that you can smell a hint of banana, and some sugary/sweetness. It's creamy but honestly, what a disappointment...

I really wanted to like this one because I am so interested in finding a banana scent. but the visual I had upon first sniff was old people on a cruise ship playing shuffleboard and those banana scented triangular highlighters from the book fair. on the drydown i get spray-on sunscreen plus the end of a beach day, when you are sweaty, salty, sandy, sunburnt, and maybe had some juicy type of fruit for a snack. also reminds me of the jergens tanning lotion i would steal from my mom in middle school that would stain my palms. the good news is it doesn't seem to last.

I have to be honest and say I don’t like this one as much as I thought I would. While there’s a lovely green banana and coconut note in the initial spray, it’s gone in literally minutes. After that, on me at least, it’s really just jasmine with a slight undertone of vanilla. It lasts another 90 minutes or so, but then it’s gone completely. It’s nice enough, but not for me. At least it gives my wallet a break!

A yummy yes please.

Banana is one of my favorite fruits, but in perfumes, a banana accord seems more of a taboo for some reason and I can understand why. It can either go disastrously south or deliciously north.

The banana in Maui In A Bottle Sweet Banana | 37 falls in the latter case, at least on my skin.

Starts with a mouthwatering creamy banana smoothy accord. You can smell both the fruit pulp and the banana skin. The accord is backed by a bouquet of carefully blended flowers.

Not sure why Gardenia is not mentioned here, but it's on the official website notes description and I can smell it clearly here, which also happens to be one of my favorites notes as well.

What's really impressive in this is the blending, almost shocking to be honest. Everything is blended perfectly, nothing obnoxiously sticking out.

Behind the creamy banana and flowers, lies a balsamic slightly boozy bourbon vanilla accord.

Performance is excellent, exceeding 12 hours on my skin in different weather scenarios. I wore it in winter and today I'm wearing it in the summer. Top notch performance in all scenarios.

Two banana thumbs up for me.
