Comforting sweetness
Such a nostalgic musk. It makes me think of drugstore musk fragrances from the past, but in the best possible way and without the suffocating powdery base those often have. I can't put my finger on what exactly this reminds me of, maybe something in a tacky pink bottle by Ulric de Varens, mixed with TBS or Jovan White Musk?
The first spray is only that familiar, clean but sensual white musk note, but after a minute the creamy, fluffy vanilla comes in and turns the scent into a cloud of delicate sweetness. I smell a sugar note in this, it feels like the musk and vanilla were sprinkled with magic pink fairy dust. The lotus and freesia add a little floral-aquatic twist that lifts the fragrance. I think this is the reason why this keeps a certain cool clarity, despite being a sweet and warm scent. It's on the soft side of things, but not weak, which is perfect in this case. Extreme performance just doesn't work with this kind of perfume.
To me this feels comforting like wearing a fuzzy pastel sweater and looking at the snowflakes outside the window. Which makes it sound like a total winter scent, but I could imagine wearing this anytime, except for the warmest weeks of summer. It's a simple scent and not the most refined thing in the world, but it makes me feel so happy that I don't even care. Sometimes a hit of nostalgia and coziness can be just as satisfying as a complex blend of notes.
This is an older review I originally wrote for that other perfume site that shall not be named. Since then, I also tried (and bought) Prada Candy Kiss, which I find a bit similar to this. It could be a replacement if you can't find Musk 12, but keep in mind that it has orange blossom instead of the more watery flowers in this one, so the overall effect is sweeter and not as dewy.
