Milky Skin Scent
I have a really hard time describing this fragrance. When I was in Sephora yesterday I sprayed it on a test strip and it was such a nice, soft fragrance with a soft coffee note that I absolutely loved so I grabbed it, but it smells completely different on my skin. It's still a soft, light fragrance but I can't smell the coffee at all. Instead there's a slightly sweet milky note that's a *little* weird but overall pretty nice. A few hours after initial spray I put on Cocoa Cashmere lotion and then sprayed this again and this morning I tried it with Vanilla Cashmere lotion and it's definitely a lot better when layered. There's a very slight funk to it but it is nice and cozy and I do like it.

Masculine lavender followed by a creamy, milky accord
This is the second of the Freedom Collection perfume that I'll be testing out (will be going through them in alphabetical order).

The first few minutes, dare I say first half hour of this fragrance, is not what I was expecting at all. A very strong, masculine lavender assaults my nose and I'm left with a powdery, spicy and herbal
aroma. Very masculine, but that might be a me-thing since I strongly associate lavender with my dad's cologne from when I was a child. As it moves on, I smell a struggling note of spicy warmth coming from the cinnamon. Fortunately, the lavender does end up receding and that's when the coffe milk note does start coming in. It's pretty soft, barely any coffee or chocolate, but I do get a creamy, milky note. Soothing, sweet, calming and kind of nice. It didn't wow me, but I was glad I was getting what the fragrance was being marketed for. Drydown starts getting more woody as the lavender dissipates and the creamy, mily note melds into the usual Kayali base (sweet vanilla, powdery tonka and musk). The drydown smells more sophisticated than what its name suggests, but also fit for bedtime vibes and just lounging around at home on a day off.

Overall, it's an okay fragrance, although the lavender blast was thoroughly off-putting for me. It won't be getting into my collection since I'm not a fan of masculine lavender and I didn't really care for the coffee milk note. As of now, I can't say I'm wowed by any of the Freedom fragrances. They're fine as they are, but they're clearly missing some of that sparkle I smelled in past Kayali fragrances.

A note on the Freedom Collection set:
I've learned from my Vacay in A Bottle blind purchase mistakes so this time I only bought the sample set and not the mini bottles. Reviews on social media have been lukewarm at best and although I'm always hyped to try out Kayali fragrances, I've become more strict about which fragrances enter my collection to avoid any waste and money ill-spent.

Based only on the fragrance notes of all four Freedom Collection fragrances, I've listed what I think will be my order of preferences : Musk Matcha| 45, Musk Latte | 41, Musk Bouquet | 27, Musk Santal | 34. At the end of the fourth review, I'll be seeing how I rank them after having tested them all.

Cozy and Subtle
This is a quintessential clean and cozy scent. A very gentle lavender cloud brushes over some milky and nutty notes. There’s a hint of chocolate here but it’s incredibly subtle. And it’s lifted by even quieter notes of orange zest and spices (I’m perhaps thinking of a really faint hint of Mexican hot chocolate I used to drink)? It’s not quite as milky as I was hoping but I appreciate how subtle and well blended the composition is.

Decanting spices dressed in a cozy cashmere sweater while sipping a warm Mexican hot chocolate
According to the Kayali and Sephora websites, Musk Latte has notes of bergamot, pink pepper, mandarin, cinnamon, caffè latte, Turkish rose, lavender, cypriol, cedarwood, sandalwood, chocolate musk, and the Kayali signature accord. Musk Latte is my favorite of the Musk collection, and has quickly become one of my favorite fragrances. It’s a soft milky, warm, spicy, sweet, and woody dream that envelops the skin like the coziest cashmere sweater.

On my first wear, Musk Latte opened up with a strong pink pepper note that made me want to sneeze. For the first few hours, it smelled like when you're decanting spices into your spice rack containers - just a mix of a whole bunch of spices and aromatics, and the scent of wooden cabinets. It was surprisingly savory smelling. Eventually, it became creamy, milky, and sweet, with a vague spicy scent.

On later wears, Musk Latte still opened with a symphony of spices, aromatics, and woody notes. When it comes to spices, it mostly smells like pink pepper and to my nose, chili powder and cayenne. When it comes to aromatics, I wouldn’t have guessed lavender. I don’t get lavender at all. I would’ve guessed sage or bay leaf. However, on later wears, Musk Latte quickly dries down to a sweet, spicy, creamy, milky scent!

Furthermore, I began to pick up the chocolate on later wears, and I have consistently picked up the chocolate since then! It reminds me of a Mexican hot chocolate made with a single packet of premade Mexican hot chocolate mix (Nestle’s Abuelita Mexican hot chocolate mix comes to mind!) and extra cayenne pepper and chili powder. So, Musk Latte doesn’t smell super chocolatey. It smells like sweetened milk and spices (pink pepper, chili powder, and cayenne) with a very light chocolate scent, with gentle woody and musky nuances.

Musk Latte is an intimate skin scent with one spray that I can smell with my wrist 1-3 inches away from my nose, and lasts about six hours. With three sprays, Musk Latte has moderate projection and creates a lovely, cozy scent bubble around me that I catch whiffs of as I move about. When I wear three sprays of Musk Latte, I get eleven hours of longevity! So, it’s very long-lasting. For the first seven hours, projection is moderate and I catch whiffs as I move about. In the final four hours, Musk Latte is an intimate skin scent that I have to put my nose very close to my skin (and in the last hour on my skin) to smell. My favorite way to wear Musk Latte is applying three sprays on my left wrist/forearm and dabbing it onto my right wrist/forearm. Sometimes I like to dab it on either side of my neck as well. It’s such a cozy fragrance!

It’s different
Ok out of the whole collection, this is the one that has stood out to me the most because it’s different though still not fulfilling the whole musky story they’re trying to sell you. Definitely smells like a milky coffee, but with the chocolate note, so I guess it smells like a mocha? Haven’t smelled an actual mocha in a long time, but to me this does not necessarily smell like a latte. It smells like what I just said, a milky coffee with hint of chocolate as well as a light lavender powderyness and a little touch of citruses.

I’m not the typical Kayali customer but I decided to sample this collection because musky perfumes are in my top 3. However, this perfume is not musky at all, it’s just a creamy soft scent.

I think the cypriol and lavender make this an airier and fresher take on coffee/mocha. My surprise favourite, hope 50/100mls come out soon!

For my taste, this is the only scent from the new Freedom collection worth trying. Decent, but nothing to write home about.

Very masculine lavender with spices followed by a creamy milk coffee. Dries down warm, sweet and musky. It's fine, but nothing woah.

From spray through the first couple hours it’s very peppery. Drydown was a nutty musk. No coffee detected.

This one is interesting, was surprised by it. More herbal than expected. Creamy, slightly woody drydown. Comforting.

Milky coffee with orange zest and spicy chocolate-cinnamon truffles, but all softened by cool musk. Less gourmand than expected.

Starts as "Lavender Extreme" (coconut and lavender mix) and then dries down to a better Blanche Bete. Cozy but without coffee.
