Gave it away
Watery, thin, green, sharp, brittle. Just a nothing, really. Maybe it was the lily of the valley which I dislike. The bottle irritated me - took up far too much space in my cupboard. It had to go.

Adieu mon amour......
Many years ago, my mother started bringing me a perfume from the Duty Free on her first trips abroad. As always, she set her own standard and brought back something that would have suited her wonderfully. Older (of course) and red-haired (a completely different type). I still remember, the first one was something from Paco Rabanne, it smelled dreadful. The second was one from Dali, also horrendous for me at that time.
After I stubbornly refused to use these missteps (in my eyes), I was allowed to say which one it had to be. And that was this one:
At that time, Kenzo Parfum d‘été was launched. I can only write from my memory, but it was a fragrance revolution for me. It was my first perfume; I didn’t have much experience, but until then, I found all scents to be heavy and burdensome. This one was different; it was bright and cheerful and fresh. And floral and sweet without being cloying, simply delicious. I loved it so much, it was mine. I could never get enough of it; I was constantly sniffing because I loved the scent so much. It suited me too, back then a slender blonde young woman. And I was constantly complimented on it.
It’s not that I didn’t try anything else over the years, but I kept coming back to it. Then came the reformulation and also the new bottle.
Such a puristic smooth glass bottle that had to be laid down (which also took up more space). And with the purism of the bottle came the purism of the perfume. It still smelled somewhat like the old familiar scent, but it was reduced, as if half of it had been taken away. Maybe it was like that.
After that, I could no longer wear it; that wonderful scent was gone. I made several attempts, even bought a bottle two years ago, but it’s not the same anymore.
For me, the reformulation is also clearly noticeable in distribution. Nowadays, it is no longer available in perfumeries; you can only order it online. I think sooner or later it will completely disappear, and that was initiated with the reformulation.

What does one do when their signature scent is taken away?
It’s been a years-long odyssey through fragrances (until then, I didn’t even know about Parfumo).
In the end, I have now found something. I have a new scent “baby.” It’s not new, and the EdT version has probably already been reformulated, but the EdP that arrived today smells just as wonderful to me as my beloved Parfum d‘été. Not the same scent, of course, but the same feeling.
That’s why I now say with a clear conscience “Adieu mon amour!”

We will not see each other again; I will continue to miss you, but I will not try to find something new again, because I have it now.

Take care ????????

Tell me, where have the leaves gone...
...where have they gone?
Tell me, where have the leaves gone, what has happened?
Tell me, where have the leaves gone, the manufacturer picked them quickly.
When will we ever understand,
when will we ever understand?

When will we ever understand that we would like to hold on to old fragrance recipes and bottles, and do not want to be secretly presented with one reformulation after another, like here, in a meaningless, smooth, cold, and emotionless bottle. We mourn for scents that have accompanied us through a part of our lives, scents that we would like to smell again to relive the past, to dream, and to indulge in memories, but it is no longer possible.

The beautifully frosted bottle, reminiscent of a leaf with its veins, with that little droplet on the cap, is today just a collector's item and stands before me in the 100 ml size. The scent of the new d'Ètè has lost its magic for me; it lacks the softness, the depth, and the floral warmth that flowed from the widely opened summer-scented flowers, it lacks all that which did justice to this name. I no longer like this scent and will sooner or later cast it to the wind, let it fly wherever it wants.

You Are Beautiful to Me
I admit, I am not familiar with the predecessor of the now-stylized glass leaf, and I approached the new release with an open mind.

I find the bottle original and the scent very appealing.

For a summer fragrance, it is very full-bodied and pronounced, so I also enjoy wearing it in winter.
The lily of the valley leaf is beautifully green and promises, even in winter, the coming spring.
I look forward to the budding plants, milder temperatures, and longer days.
This longed-for brightness is already expressed in the enchanting hyacinth and the white jasmine.
The pink peony is fragrant and sways in the spring breeze.
Sandalwood makes it creamy, and musk adds softness.
A promise of the bright season that I would like to trust.

I think - you are beautiful to me - and I swing along with the Andrew Sisters:

You are beautiful to me, please let me explain
You are beautiful to me means you're grand
You are beautiful to me, again I'll explain
It means you're the fairest in the land

I could say "Bella, bella", even say "Wunderbar"
Each language only helps me tell you how grand you are

You are beautiful to me.

Pure, clean, minimal, in the style of the 90es: a touch of innocent freshness very pleasant in summer. Nice the leaf shaped bottle

This fragrance is a prime example of how, thanks to reformulation, you can turn an ethereal floral scent into a pile of junk. SHOCK!

Yes, the original version is unbeatable, but the new one also impresses with a delicate aura, green elegance, and just a very well-rounded overall presence. Love.
