waiting and drinking tea
Yesterday a fight with my girlfriend.

Feeling down, I make my way to the city for some compensatory pleasure - frustration shopping.
My good friend accompanies me faithfully.
I would have loved to stroll with her.

I feel like buying a Red Roses fragrance, but I can't find any roses for the garden anywhere.
The planting season is still to come.
So a scent must do.

At Rossi, I discover L. Rouge, and since I already own the Ls in various colors, I grab it blindly, as a tester is, as often, not available.

Based on the color, I expect a rose scent.
But I’m mistaken.
Instead, I am enveloped by a full rooibos tea note, which is very soothing for my agitated mind.

Pleasantly calming. Just what I need.
The ginger has a stimulating component that also warms.
The mango provides valuable vitamins - mildly spiced with cardamom.

A gentle autumn scent that smooths my thoughts.
I am in accord with the scent and immediately add the turquoise Natural.

The L. line has not disappointed me so far.

By the way, rouge is unisex for me.

I must be the only one, but...
...I find it very pleasant, especially in the first half hour. Mild, flattering, just like rooibos tea affects me, maybe that's it.
It could be more persistent, that's true. But it's such a likable scent that I don't mind applying more after 2 hours.

A Crocodile Sees Red
After Blanc, Vert, and Bleu, the Eau de Lacoste L.12.12 Rouge arrives as the latecomer. Here, red stands for energy and dynamism - in a latent way, it also suggests sensuality. And when you look at the ingredients, especially in the top note, it seems they want to weave the red concept like a common thread throughout.

Mandarin liqueur, mango, and rooibos tea pique curiosity, but who would seriously expect a top fragrance from Lacoste now?
At first, it sparkles a bit with a bittersweet fruitiness before tipping into a spicy, mushy territory. You can't really make out anything distinctly. This could also speak against Rouge. However, personally, I find this red fruit excess, even though it comes across rather muted, too childish and it could easily pass as a children's perfume. Surely, it's not so bad that one would blush out of sheer embarrassment, but energetic or dynamic is something else.
So, I quickly marked it with a red check and returned to the agenda.

I’m curious to see how far the L.12.12 line can continue. I’m betting on Noir next.

Little Croco without Bite
When searching for summer fragrances, one tends to go through all sorts of options. This brings us to another Lacoste color fragrance. I’ll call it that, as various editions have been released, all in the same (but colorfully different) bottles. Let’s see how the red version performs.

The scent:
The beginning is very faintly marked by cardamom and smells slightly spicy-fresh; I think this is cardamom. After that, it becomes fruity due to the mango, and a certain calming freshness comes from the (rooibos) tea, although it’s very gentle. This lasts for about 30 - 45 minutes, until it becomes a bit woodier, though one cannot say for sure what kind of wood is being smelled. And somehow, that’s about it. In the end, it smells slightly citrusy while the benzoin is hardly noticeable. Everything is a bit nice, but also far too insignificant.

The longevity is below average. I would say it lasts on the skin for about 4-5 hours. The sillage is very low; even when spraying, the scent is hardly perceptible, and later it doesn’t radiate anything, so you only notice the fragrance when you bring your nose very close to the sprayed area.

The bottle is rectangular with rounded corners, opaque red, and has a matching red cap. It looks quite nice and feels good in the hand. There’s also a cute little croco on the bottle *petting*

I find the red Lacoste from this line to be the weakest (in terms of sillage; I still need to test the green one for the scent). It’s not just a weak fragrance; to be honest, one hardly knows what to do with it, as it simply smells unremarkable. It is very subtle, actually nice, has no distinctive notes, and quickly fades away and is forgotten. If it were cheaper, it might have received a higher rating, as at least one could wear it for oneself. Well,..

ONCE UPON A TIME THERE WAS A MAN ...
Not quite rhyme-free!

"Once upon a time there was a man who had a sponge. The sponge was too wet for him, so he went into the grass. The grass was too green for him, so he went to Berlin. Berlin was too small for him, so he bought himself a pig. The pig was too fat for him, so he went to bed. The bed was too soft for him, so he went to the pond. The pond was too full for him, so he went to Tyrol. Tyrol was too silly for him, so he turned back."

So, this is my contribution to the topic of "children's perfume." This children's rhyme has been making the rounds in our family for many years. My little niece could recite it almost flawlessly by the age of 2. I don't know if anyone outside our family knows it. Now at least ...
The rhyme is as funny as it is nonsensical, but it’s not devoid of creativity. In any case, it came to my mind in relation to this scent and the preceding descriptions.

I actually had high hopes when L.12.12 Rouge was released. The fragrances in this line are certainly not great hits, but still quite nice. They don’t quite fit with the high-quality polo shirt classics.

You, Mr. Lacoste! That’s really mean!

I really love fruity and sweet fragrances. That’s why I’m all the more disappointed with this one. Whether it’s actually a children’s perfume, I can’t judge. As a lovely and cheerful summer scent for leisure, Rouge can certainly be worn by both men and women. But for that, I’d find the price too steep.

Oh yes, speaking of sponge: Spongebob might smell like this if he weren’t busy smelling like Krabby Patties ...

You, Mr. Lacoste ... why do you put a crocodile on this bottle? The perfume isn’t dangerous at all!

"This is the thumb that picks the plums ..." - Oh no, that doesn’t make sense without visualization!

Wore it with enthusiasm in 2011. Bought it again in 2020 to indulge in nostalgia, great memories. I guess that’s what growing up is all about.

Reminds me a bit of The One. Not a big hit, but not really bad either.

King of "no compliments." Smells strange, like Tabasco. Finished 30ml and completely disappointed. H/S 3hrs level.

Way too synthetic fruit combination. You can safely ignore this scent.

less citrusy than blue, yellow, and green. Instead, it's a bit spicier with fruit, but even more synthetic since it's sweeter. No one needs this.

Very strange gummy bear fruitiness, totally synthetic fabric softener smell, yet spicy, Ambroxan. Not acceptable.
