Let's continue with one of my favorite brands: Mancera. Here with Black Line, one of three from the Line collection. Besides this one, there is also the
Lemon Line and the
Aoud Line. I also like the former, it smells like a luxurious citrus refreshing towel, while I am not familiar with the rather unknown Aoud Line. This Black Line is already my 18th fragrance from this brand, and it never fails to impress me. This broad and often pleasing yet unique range may only receive moderate attention here, but in "real" life, these perform really, really well. Guaranteed. The price category between designer and niche is absolutely fair, and you get a lot for your money, including top performances.
The Black Line doesn't get much attention here: 129 reviews and rather few statements. It seems not to appeal to the masses, probably because it is not hyped and the rose theme is very present in the fragrance world. In my opinion, you get a better option here if you are looking for that dark and oriental type of rose.
Packaging is typical for Mancera. Simple cardboard, Mancera pouch, and uniform bottle. The striped look is quite cool, which all the Line collection has. Additionally, the new releases or newer batches have a magnetic cap, which I prefer. The screw cap was really uncool.
In terms of scent, you don't get the feeling that you haven't smelled this DNA before. It sounds negative at first, but it isn't. In my opinion, you get one of the best dark rose fragrances on the market. Moreover, the appeal is typical Mancera, and you don't get a scent that is too experimental or niche. Roughly, this fragrance leans very much towards
Radical Rose Eau de Parfum, but here it is definitely darker and also significantly more masculine.
Rose takes the lead from the very beginning. A beautiful dark rose that also has a slight soapy vibe. Those who enjoy the direction of oriental rose might find this fragrance appealing. This rose is accompanied by a lot of dark patchouli, which, as always, harmonizes well with rose notes. Also here. Additionally, right from the opening, there is a wonderful blend of spices that has a slight oriental vibe. You can also find wood here, especially sandalwood. A warm amber note brings a touch of sensuality and warmth to this creation, completing this wonderful creation. Leather is not very prominent but is rather in the background. This should not deter leather haters. This slight leather note brings in rather noble nuances and fits this darker creation. The base is already warm-sweet-sensual with a lot of amber, creamy musk, and also sandalwood. Overall, it is a rather linear fragrance that does not show much evolution; the base is, of course, significantly softer, warmer, and more intimate. It's a great unisex fragrance that can be worn well in everyday life but also in the dark. In warmer months, this is more suitable for the evening/night.
Performance is really good, as expected from Mancera and also from this type of fragrance. The first few hours, it projects very well; after 3-4 hours, it becomes a bit softer. Longevity is easily 10+ hours. Overall, a perfect performance if you want to be noticed.
A fragrance that might have more success under another brand. The offer of oriental-tinged rose fragrances is high. Be that as it may, I can absolutely recommend this, and I will gladly wear it.
