Tropical fruits morph into tobacco/leather

I remember getting this siample back when I wanted to try as much fragrance as I could without putting thoughts into what I liked / didn't like and how notes interact on my skin. Now that I'm clearing Ormonde Jayne samples, I was pretty apprehensive in testing this one, with good reason.

The beginning is absolutely beautiful with the tropical fruits. I get pineapple as the strongest one, with a subtle sweet mango in the background. Didn't get any other notes although the sweetness did seem dialed up. There's some kind of spicy freshness I assume comes from the rhubarb and cardamom. Doesn't take long before tobacco comes barreling in and destroying everything in its path. I get a dark, almost smoky tobacco with a very strong leathery facet. It's very masculine to my nose and also off-putting since I'm not a great tobacco / leather fan. It ends up becoming a powdery tobacco for awhile before finally settling down on my skin. During its last moments, it becomes powdery, slightly fresh and synthetic, very masculine-leaning.

I won't be going for a full bottle for the obvious reasons listed above. Still glad I got the chance to try it out (the tropical fruit beginning was amazing), but I now know better to look at every notes mentioned in a fragrance instead of focusing on the ones I prefer (and hoping they'll stand out on my skin when they never do).

Fruity, leathery seduction for spring

At first, I was skeptical whether this fragrance blend would appeal to me. After all, leather and tobacco are far outside my scent comfort zone. Nevertheless, the composition piqued my curiosity.

The bottle itself is beautiful and features a fine spray nozzle. The cheerful, elegant color combination of pink and silver prepares you for the fragrance explosion inside and makes a statement.

The fruity-sweet scent is absolutely in the foreground and is gently underscored by the subtle tobacco-leather note. Not at all intrusive, these two fragrance components enhance the sweetness and make it an absolute must-have for me in spring and early summer.
After a while, you can perceive the lovely vanilla note very subtly in the background.

The fragrance does not come across as overwhelming or intrusive in any way. Thanks to the wonderful harmony of the individual components, it results in a scent that absolutely convinces me.

The longevity is around 6-7 hours, and the sillage is not intrusive but clearly and pleasantly perceptible to those around.

Definitely a strong recommendation and will be a constant companion for me this spring!

Wow! I'm positively surprised

Montabaco Rio combines the classic Montabaco Intensivo with a fruity-sweet twist.
Does it work? Yes!
The fruity-sweet impressions harmonize wonderfully with the well-known leather-tobacco mix, which is enhanced with ISO-E and Ambroxan.

The fragrance starts off fruity-sweet right away. Various fruits, pineapple, rhubarb, and especially mango create this lovely impression. However, in my opinion, this twist is never overdone. It doesn't feel overwhelming, too sweet, or too fruity.
Everything is perfectly balanced, especially with the leathery tobacco nuances that you already know from the Intensivo.
The leather from the base is already detectable and feels super elegant. Along with that, we have this pleasant tobacco and slightly woody notes.

The Ambroxan and ISO-E Super are also well dosed and enhance the fragrance nicely.
Often, for example, I find the ISO-E to be too much.
A perfect example from the same fragrance house is the popular Montabaco Verano. Personally, I found this facet to be a bit overloaded.
Here, I like it.

Over time, the fruity impressions fade more and more, leaving behind the beautiful leather, the tobacco, and a bit of sandalwood.

In Montabaco Intensivo, for example, floral notes also emerge.
These are completely absent here in Rio.
Am I upset about that? No.
While I found them perfectly fine in the Intensivo, Rio doesn't need them. It's good as it is.

The performance can be described as quite good.
On average, it lasts about 8 hours on me. It settles around 7-8 hours. The sillage is decent.

All in all, a fragrance that has convinced me and I really like!

It's just awesome.
Smoky-mystical, exotic fruits.
Fun in a bottle. Nothing like this has ever existed.
It's just fun. The smoky note hits hard, but in the most pleasant way. This keeps the fruit aromas from ever becoming squeaky or gummy.
The bottle doesn't promise too much.
Perfect for going out and making a statement.
