Glamorous, glorious true Chypre

Like almost all my purchases this was a blind buy a little bit over a year ago and I had a quite good “picture” about it in my head but I didn’t know how gorgeous it is. This very complex Chypre has an exceptional luxurious glamour from the past and imo it fits in the same category (doesn’t mean that they are same) with beloved Chypres - vintage Givenchy III (1970) Parfum (mine is from 70s) and original Miss Dior Extrait de Parfum Original (mine is from 60s). If you love those ones you would probably love this one too. Like those two, sadly this gem is discontinued as well.

This scent is rich, intoxicating, floral, earthy and mossy with sensual Civet and velvety soft leathery touch in the base. This is for special occasions but whenever you want to feel confident, mysterious and sexy, go for it. I don’t have any of Rojas Essence de Parfums but I would love to have Risque Pour Femme in that concentration as well.

Risque? No. Superb? Yes!...

Risque (Parfum) opens with a slightly sweet citrus spiked airy rose and slightly powdery ylang-ylang tandem before moving quickly to its heart. As the composition enters its early heart the ylang-ylang takes the fore with the citrus and rose quickly receding, as it is joined by co-starring white floral jasmine. Later in the heart progression the jasmine and ylang-ylang remain but slightly diminish, allowing a lush hyacinth floral accord to join the others, taking the lead in and out for about an hour with a subtle white musk undertone resembling high quality detergent in support. During the late dry-down the floral aspects dissipate as the composition turns significantly woody through the use of cedar and ever so slightly sweet through the relatively sanitized patchouli, ambery labdanum and faint hints of underlying cinnamon peeping in and out through the finish. Projection is excellent to near outstanding and longevity is outstanding at well over 15 hours on skin.

Wow, what a pleasant surprise! With a name such as "Risque" I expected something super-daring and challenging to wear but Risque Parfum (or "Creation R" as it is called in the States) is anything but. Instead of a challenging composition the wearer instead gets one of the finest and most pleasant smelling floral concoctions I have encountered. The initial ylang-ylang and rose floral tandem is absolutely sublime and super-high quality. The florals seem to just float in the air with significant projection and sillage but never overpower. Speaking of florals, the hyacinth that joins the party later-on in the composition's mid-section has got to be the best integration of that note I have sniffed to date, and the result is absolutely outstanding. If there is any relative weakness to the composition ("relative" being the operative word) it would have to be the late dry-down, where things get a bit more subtle and restrained. At the end of the day even Risque (Parfum) at its worst is better than 99% of compositions at their best. As an aside, while I rarely mention stereotypical "masculinity" and "femininity" in my perfume reviews as I believe all compositions can be worn by anyone, I dare say that Risque (Parfum) would truly smell absolutely striking on a lady in particular. Coming full circle, I return to saying this stuff is absolutely brilliant! The bottom line is the $480 per 50ml bottle Risque (Parfum) is a near reference quality airy floral concoction that may have a name that is unfortunate, but the composition itself is unquestionably brilliant, earning a "near masterpiece" to "masterpiece" rating of 4.5 to 5 stars out of 5 and an extremely strong recommendation to all, women in particular. Start saving up your funds for this costly one!

only one scent moment: from innocent to wicked

That sounds almost like the title song of a movie from the forties that filled the cinemas!
But so is Roja's "Risqué Parfum"!

Light-footed and at first a bit innocent, this Roja composition enters the fragrance stage: the spicy lightness of chamomile with its subtle powdery tang, meets lively sparkling bergamot aroma in the opening.
Hyacinth spring breeze, childlike-radiant jasmine and a youthful rose dream give themselves completely to the hostile, all-embracing embrace of ylang-ylang!
One almost believes to see a light short skirt bobbing in the spring wind!
This lively fragrance innocence bites laughing in one of the ripe peaches, which are always ready in a large bowl with the fragrances of this brand and may not be missing.
Their sweet and creamy juice mixes with the yet quite Roja-untypical fragrance start.
But into this innocent fragrance lightness creeps a, not noted here, yet quite adult leather note.
A discreet Animalik makes itself broad, before a sensual rich base develops.
Here they are again: a noble oakmoss nuance; vetiver, as always earthy smelling; followed by rich brown-golden Patchouliklängen.
A very delicate cocoa tone shows up together with silky cedar, before warm-spicy labdanum finally spreads finely smoky over everything.

"Risqué Parfum" is for me a sensual promise of the in the course of the exceptionally long shelf life from the girl to the woman becoming fragrance!
This sophisticated transformation reveals itself richly peppered with many facets of a woman's life.
This is also how a classic chypre creation with floral decor can evolve!

Roja Parfums has succeeded here again to surprise me.
Initially, I was surprised by the unexpected youthful freshness, but then quite soon from an almost inconspicuous caterpillar to a dazzling fragrance butterfly emerges.
Out comes a grown-up, sensual chypre fragrance creation that lifts the self-confidence without stepping on too many feet or being too loud.

To wear "Risqué Parfum", you don't need much: a few spritzes and then the seduction is on!
Everything else is left to the adult imagination!
