Flowerbomb Ed into happy

I have been looking for a happy, uplifting perfume lately. There are different recommendations for that, but as I have discovered, it’s often a very personal matter. Although, I am not quite sure. This weekend I went to Ulta to try some fragrances and see what appeals to me. After hoping that the ubiquitous Happy will do its job, I stumbled upon Flowerbomb Nectar. Flowerbomb itself failed to impress me of late, as it seems to have really soft projection on my skin. But lo and behold, I fell in love with its flanker completely out of the blue. Riding home in the car, I kept sniffing my wrist, never getting quite enough of this nectar of the gods that all of sudden descended upon me. It was so gentle, feminine, relaxing and alluring all at once. I was looking at the snow covered fields all around me all of a sudden recalling the sweet smell of the grassy wildflower meadows in the summer and that feeling of falling in love and dreaming of that special someone, that tingling sensation of happiness. Where have I been before?

Different enough

The ultimate fruitchouli perfume for me. I don’t get along with regular FB, the patchouli is still too loud for me in the drydown… but while searching for a perfume for my mom I decided to try this version. WOW. So much sweeter, the gunpowder accord gives a slightly metallic/earthy vibe, and the patchouli isn’t scratchy. Love. In the world of fruity patch frags, I love this best.

Flowerbomb Nectar opens up in a way that is familiar to the original Flowerbomb, while also doing a bit of its own thing.

The osmanthus returns, just to a lesser extent, but is joined in its sweetness by a nice blackcurrant note and a very light bergamot. The latter is really only apparent briefly.

What you will notice that is different here, is the resinous benzoin note and the inclusion of gunpowder. To me, the gunpowder is slightly metallic, and only a bit smoky. It’s very much like the note found in the men’s fragrance, Luna Rossa Carbon.

I also get some of the orange blossom and patchouli early on, but neither of those ever feels to significant in the mix. The blackcurrant doesn’t appear to just be the berry itself, but also the cassis leaf, which gives a slight greenish aroma with the patchouli note.

As we get further along, it is still sweet, just less fruity and more of a syrupy quality. Vanilla and tonka bean are major players at this point. The blackcurrant is all but gone, but I do still get some of that osmanthus.

It’s a lot like the original Flowerbomb, just with amped up vanilla/tonka bean and the inclusion of that gunpowder. It doesn’t seem as bright and is colder, but the jasmine and osmanthus do sell the floral part of this fragrance like its predecessor.

That’s mostly what I get for the remaining of the wear.

Juicy and with more "Oomph"

Finally, a name that matches the scent. Its an explosion of flowers dripping with nectar and juice while fireworks go off in the background. This is fun and flirty in a not so innocent, sultry way. This is a heady floral fragrance with sweet fruity notes, a bit like candy, and hint of something metallic in the background. Its less of a flourmand than the original in the sense that the flowers and fruits are there, but separate. It doesn't feel edible. It could be due to the vanilla being toned down in this version. The fragrance does get a little generic in its wear but its still a good scent.

This fragrance has way more projection when compared to Dew and the Original. This fragrance creates a nice juicy scent bubble around you, people will notice. This fragrance lasts longer than the other two I've tested. I got about 5 hours of wear on skin and it will last longer on clothes. There are several sizes available starting at 10ml for $38, 50ml for $150, and 90ml for $185.

Delight - also for Pacifists

Today the sun is finally shining again - after an almost endless winter.

My budgies Peppi and Molly are hopping around cheerfully, chirping and tweeting about Australia.

I also want to pack my little suitcase, as I am struck by a strong desire to travel.
This sweet, optimistic Nectar fits perfectly.

Sunny and unabashedly powdery, it envelops me - and gives me a boost.
A fruity start, refined by osmanthus - making the scent appear valuable.
I particularly enjoy the hint of gunpowder, which I still remember from the shooting range.
Although I am a self-proclaimed pacifist, I have enjoyed shooting at cans, bottles, and targets.
And even today, I clear out every shooting booth at the fair.
The smoky vapor from the gun is special and enticing.

Floral notes, however, overshadow the daring aspect, and the vanilla is full and soft.
Patchouli adds a slightly elegant touch, and tonka completes and rounds out the Nectar.

A distinctly sweet and powdery scent, with a delicious factor - that will also be well-received by pacifists.
