1 hour & it's gone
I was so excited for this release and I'm so disappointed. Generously applied 3 sprays to my wrist in store and instantly got that Spicebomb Extreme DNA. It doesn't scream dark or leather, you can pick up the leather when you look for it but it's not the dominant note. That said it smells great, while it lasts.......

I was surprised how fast the scent began to fade. No projection and I had to stick my nose on my wrist to pick it up, so faint and then 1 hour later, as I write this, it is totally undetectable. This is not nose fatigue as I can still smell the Gucci guilty elixir I applied 5 hours ago no problem.

I hope they can fix this in some way, as I said the opening is very nice but performance is something I'd expect from a $10 fragrance. I really thought the leather would come out more in the dry down but instead the whole fragrance just disappeared

Spice, Dark Leather, but no Bomb
I must say that Spicebomb Dark Leather looked very promising in my eyes. The notes breakdown looked just like what I was looking for: a sophisticated leather fragrance. And scent-wise, it's exactly that.

At first, the fragrance opens up quite spicy and even a little bit fresh, with the black pepper clearly dominating. As it starts to settle down, that frankincense pushes through, giving it a very pleasant, smooth, smoky accord, with little hints of cinnamon in the background. And not long after, the tobacco steals the show, making for a very soothing smell. However, I must say that while the dark leather accord was definitely noticeable, it wasn't as noticeable as I expected. At least on my skin and to my experience-less nose. In case you're wondering what the difference between regular leather and dark leather is in perfumery, regular leather aims for a warmer, smokier, and somewhat animalic scent. Usually, it comes off as a smoother/softer note, yet still quite noticeable. Dark leather, on the other hand, is technically a more intense and heavier variation of leather, with richer, deeper, and more complex qualities. It's also a bit more animalic than regular leather, to which I can vouch for here.

But I'm not sure I can agree with the part that dark leather is more intense than regular leather. Well, at least not here, with Spicebomb Dark Leather. It actually felt quite smooth and well-blended with the tobacco and frankincense notes. And for the most part, I felt like the last two were the most noticeable ones along my wearing. As the fragrance sat close to my skin, that's when the dark leather started to shine alone... or did it?

That leads us to the performance, which is unfortunately laughable. After no more than an hour or so, the fragrance started closing in on my skin quite substantially. And after about 5 hours, I can barely detect it on my wrist. This is all made worse when you see its poor projection also. I really had to get my wrist into my nose to smell it, and same goes when I asked someone else if they could smell it. Sure, if I sprayed 5 or more sprays, with most on my neck, it maybe would've been a bit easier to notice. But even so, it wouldn't last long until it would become a skin scent.

And so, as much as I love the way Spicebomb Dark Leather smells - its smokiness, its tobacco, its leather, its soothing experience - and as much as I wanted to buy a full bottle of it, I will have to unfortunately pass, as the performance simply does not make it worth the money. If you get it anyways, then overspray with confidence. If not, I'd say the original Spicebomb EDT would be a better buy. Although not entirely the same as Dark Leather, the latter does resemble the former in certain aspects, and the EDT ironically performs better. If only Dark Leather had the expected performance from such a fragrance, it would easily become my favorite in the lineup. 6.2/10

The best smell with a terrible performance
I bought this perfume after I fell in love with it as it has my favorite notes: tobacco and leather, which are usually (almost always) strong and have great projection, however, in this case it has a terrible performance, and nobody could smell something on me after i asked my friends, my advice is that don’t buy it if you want to be noticeable, and I really don’t know how could they come up with such a weak performance with these notes!

Dark leather or rather flat leather?
Refreshingly peppery start, which is very bright. Spicebomb, is that you?
Immediately after the start, the Spicebomb DNA is still a little distant, but wait, you will notice it. After a relatively short time, the main star of the fragrance comes through: Leather. This leather appears dark, but thin, flat or simply gently incorporated. The leather is accompanied by other players that make the Spicebomb DNA sniffable - such as some warm, slightly sweet cinnamon, tobacco or this spicy/peppery one. There is also a nice dose of incense.
In the drydown, the incense fights against the leather and somehow wins. Anyone looking for a dark, strong, powerful leather fragrance could be disappointed here. It smells modern and light. A little more pep would have been nice, but maybe one day there will be an elixir of it? ;)
At least the longevity is good.

If the anticipation is unfortunately not confirmed...
Cool, I actually get to write the first review.
So here it is, the new Spicebomb Dark Leather. I was already looking forward to it when I read about the announcement, because I have both the normal SB and the Infrared and Extreme versions in my collection and I really love the range.

Nevertheless, it wasn't a blind buy for me, so I quickly took part in the sharing and got hold of a sample. And I'm glad I did exactly that.

The fragrance starts off quite woody, I read somewhere that it smells like Dior Homme at the beginning and I think the description really fits exactly. There's also something indefinable that goes in the direction of engine oil / car repair shop. It just smells slightly musty.

Unfortunately, what is totally missing is the Spicebomb DNA, that awesome, spicy experience that everyone who has ever smelled a Spicebomb knows. And somehow the leather doesn't really want to come through either, you can already tell in which direction it should go, but under the name DARK LEATHER I would have expected something completely different, much stronger. Unfortunately, it lacks charisma and power.

It's a shame, unfortunately a fourth grenade bottle will probably not find its way into my collection for the time being.

I don’t know how this made it past QA…one of the weakest fragrances I’ve tried in years. 0 projection with 2-3 hours of longevity. Failure.

Smells good, have to give it a few minutes to develop on skin. Smoky leather with a bit of fruitiness like Herod. Does not project much.

To start: spicebomb DNA with a pleasant addition of heavy, violet leather with some bitterness... and it's gone. ATROCIOUS performance here!

A fantastic spicy, leathery fragrance which unfortunately is let down by its terrible performance. Could've been one of, if not the best SB

My favourite leather scent so far. Less of a spicebomb and more of a Leatherbomb. Well calling it a "Bomb" is a big exaggeration

Doesn't smell like the extreme. Extreme is sweet vanilla, this is leathery no vanilla. Very different. This is the best smelling spicebomb.

Smoother, weaker and more modern version of the EDT spicebomb. I prefer the EDT.

It's simply Spicebomb, with a hint of the Extreme version. Leather is only very subtle. I was hoping for a bit more uniqueness.
