Sweet spices for men
I really like this one. The best from the brand, imo. Extreme is a good vanilla-cinnamon bomb but the OG has more going on.

I like this fresh spices on top of a tobacco leaf and cedar. Although very spicy, it's not a Spice Bomb per say. It's sweet (but not cloying) and woody. The opening has some fresh citrus along with pepper, pimento and saffron. Has it dries down, the aromatic and woody aspects become more evident. The cedar-tobacco combo is to die for and the touch of sweet cinnamon turns this fragrance to a very alluring and sexy composition.

It's great for fall to early winter days. Specially on sunny days. It can be a date scent or night out during spring/summer. The longevity is really good and the projection is decent. Not a beast mode fragrance but a typical EDT with a good punch.

Olivier Polge is a very talented perfumer and, after his masterpiece Dior Homme, he created some good classic masculine scent like The One, F Black, MiP, Valentino Uomo or this one. To me, this is a fantastic fall staple and better than his your brother Extreme which is more common and less interesting, despite being a good smelling scent.

This is a must have for me. Not a masterpiece but a great unique scent. Spicy-woody fragrances are usually my favorites. There's something about this style that fits me well and this is no exception. It adds this sexy modern nuance to a light tobacco leaf and a bunch of fresh spicy ingredients.

Computer says no
I don’t have a problem with sweet fragrances, but Spicebomb is just really too much for me. It’s pure, crude, nondescript plastic sweetness which I have a hard time considering a grown man’s fragrance. Or actually a “person’s fragrance”, of any kind. Again, sweetness is not the issue, neither the “generic” factor, which I’m very fine with most of the times. The problem is that Spicebomb smells like if they accidentally switched the nozzles with a barrel of something meant for a candy factory, and bottled that, and sold it. Leather? Saffron? Elegance? This is a juvenile, sticky bubblegum cascade of cinnamon, vanilla, musk, nonsense synthetic gummy bear stuff all wrapped in a bare “masculine” frame of woody musk and spicy amber. All in the worse quality you can imagine – flat, cheap, extremely linear synthetic stuff as in any drugstore shower gel, with no qualities whatsoever except the ability of making you feel in a time machine ready to throw you right into Justin Bieber’s arms in 2005. I’d choose lifetime chastity over any woman complimenting this abomination.

So cozy and beautiful
This is so beautiful, sexy and cozy.
Is my favourite of the entire line and the only designer fragrance i own.

The opening is just gorgeous, fresh but spicy, beautiful.

The drydown seems to be sweeter but not really, the spices play a huge role here, expecially cinnamon. Doesn’t smell gourmand but smells so cozy and sexy, this is a hit!

The extreme is cloying and smells sweeter and more synthetic.
Infrared is awful with that red fruit synthetic and cloying thing.

Go for the original ;-)

Fiery, Engaging, and Sensual
What makes the perfect fragrance? It all depends on the season and your mood that day. No matter what your sensory preferences are, just remember that the perfect fragrance simply doesn’t exist: some don’t suit your personality, and the one you like might also depend on the season, the atmosphere and the mood you feel at that time. The fragrance that drives you foolish one day might also annoy you the next. This is why we have to experiment and try a fragrance several times that may seem banal the first time. It’s part of the fun to experiment with different fragrances - don’t be afraid to try something new.

Today I want to review Spicebomb, a fragrance that is on the border between the oriental, golden amber, and spicy-woody families. The name is appropriate, it doesn’t lie, and it is the spicy cologne that everyone should try at least once; the spiciness that the name suggests is most prominent in the opening. An extraordinary fragrance that has intrigued me since its launch in 2012, often described as “fiery”, “engaging” and “sensual”. The master perfumer blends warm spices with sweet resins, balanced by notes of leather and tobacco so that the scent is never too heavy or prone to a dominant accord.

At the beginning, it is full of spices, and pink pepper, in profusion, one of my absolute favorite notes even in cooking. As soon as you spray it you are hit with the spicy notes and they are really nice. The freshness of citrus fruits broadens the spiciness, so the aroma is similar to the seasoning used for many dishes, a mix of citrus juice and pepper. A pinch of grapefruit bitterness, which is not too sulphurous, is combined with a dusty and brilliant bergamot, and the result is exceptional. Spices abound, but it’s not a fiery, pungent fragrance like Potion Eau de Parfum. I’m pretty sure a hint of resin is part of the top notes. I get the same sticky, resinous vibe as Stone for Him, which features elemi resin, although here in Spicebomb it’s not as sweet as in Stone, which often annoys me a bit and gives me a bit of a headache. The smell of balmy Elemi is unmistakable, and I swear I can smell it in Spicebomb too. In the midst of this mass of important spices, it is difficult for me to distinguish the pungent notes of chili pepper, or paprika, while the sparkling pink pepper emerges strong and clear.

It takes a few minutes for the warm spices to shine, creating an enveloping, familiar sensation. The fragrance must blend with warm skin to release the sweet notes of cinnamon, juxtaposed with the medicinal and leathery facets of saffron. Now the pungent pepper and sweet cinnamon intertwine. The leather comes in, very lightly in the centre, adding softness and character to this essence. Saffron is quite evident during the middle act, which is good, as it is a highly underrated note. However, it remains closer to the floral notes, without showing that sometimes too bitter and dark side. The accord that most characterizes the middle phase is a spicy powdery one.

After the peppery shimmer of the top notes, Spicebomb enters gentle territory with its rich sweetness of pipe tobacco, dark woods and spicy leather. The medicinal warmth of saffron forms the backdrop to the musk on which the sweet morello cherry notes of tobacco unfold. It dries down to have a sweet cinnamon aroma with a little mix of tobacco and leather, very similar to suede and no raw or rough edges. The balance is great, it’s not overpowering, but at the same time, it’s still a heavy-hitting scent. With unusual touches of elemi and saffron, Spicebomb never enters the true land of amber. Towards the end, the slightly metallic vetiver becomes more prominent but does not overpower the other notes, rather, it blends with the slightly smoky leather, sweet pipe tobacco and welcoming vanilla. Everything is warm, soft, tender and very easy to enjoy. Whatever spicy accord was present in the beginning has almost vanished, leaving only the faintest hint of cinnamon to compete with all that vanilla, leather and warmth like a warm embrace.

Spicebomb is a very well-blended, warm and wonderful scent. When I wear it I can’t stop smelling my wrists! Slightly musky, the kind of smell I like to smell on men’s skin. Good longevity, the projection is decent, and it’s strong enough to be noticed, but without being overbearing. Perfect for winter, but could also work in late autumn, so warm and spicy. It’s quite rich, so I would probably only wear it when going out to dinner or other evening and night-time occasions; it may be difficult to wear every day, but for special occasions, lunches, and other daytime social events might turn out to be a surprise. It is a fragrance that leaves a memorable impression on both the wearer and surrounding people.

I have waited a long, long time to talk about all the beautiful nuances that this perfume offers, which I have owned since February 2019.

the most demure bomb I've smelled
As far as I'm concerned, winter is incomplete without large doses of cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, saffron, and other spices. In our bitter cold winters, I pull myself through with big cups of spicy chai tea and generous spritzes of PG Un Crime Exotique, Kenzo Amour Holi, and L'Artisan Tea for Two, among others.

So I was quite excited when Spicebomb came out. Who would love a bomb made of spice more than I do? I thought it might be too much for me, though. The advertisement states: "Infusing the codes of masculine perfumery with olfactory dynamite, Viktor & Rolf Spicebomb is an explosive cocktail of virility that transforms you into a powerful, intense and daring man."

No such luck. The polite hints of ginger and chili here are undetectable even a few inches away on first application. It does last well, but only if you put your nose on it. It most reminds me of Tea for Two, but without all the delicious smoked tea. It does cost less than niche ($95 USD for 90 ml). I'd recommend, though, that someone who wants powerful spice try Mugler A*Men Gout du Parfum instead. It's packed with coffee and chili peppers, costs $90 USD for 100 ml, and comes in one of the gorgeous Mugler rubber flasks. (Or you could haunt eBay for the sadly discontinued Tea for Two.)

Daddy, this one smells like an apple pie! With lots of cinnamon.
- I don't know about the apple. But indeed, it's a spice bomb, my mouse.

Nice. Spicy, sweet and musky. The dry down reminds me of Tobacco Vanille.

Spicy, sweet, gourmand. A bit of citric freshness in the opening. A great blend of cinnamon, pink pepper, saffron with tobacco and leather.

▼ Nice spicy-sweet combo. Ubiquitiously worn by young men on weekends. Can't recommend due to abysmal performance. 90ml/no cap is obnoxious.

I have come back to the decision that this is my favorite in the line, if your going this direction, it goes big with the spices.
