DEIFIED I The perfect, "tamed" Tony Iommi for everyday life I Rockstar for the office! I Comparison to the OG
I had to wait a long time for the Deified Tony Iommi... and after the numerous new releases from Xerjoff, I was extremely excited about this one. The reviews have been a long time coming, which is why I was curious to see what to expect. Am I pleasantly surprised? YES! ...why?!
Here we go, my review of Deified Tony Iommi:
- The fragrance opens with a beautiful apple note, accompanied by saffron and cinnamon, whereby the apple-saffron combo is more noticeable! I like the combo extremely well and it's damn well executed.
- This is followed by a light leathery note; that's right, no dark leather, somehow fresh, probably underpinned by the apple and slowly rounds off the opening towards a slightly earthy-sweet drydown, where patchouli and musk are the main protagonists.
- Here, too, the Deified Tony Iommi is worthy of the "Tony Iommi" basic idea of a complex fragrance and you can really notice a great development and transformation; from the initial fruity-spicy opening to a leathery-earthy-sweet drydown! All phases in the fragrance are very harmoniously coordinated and yes, this Iommi is generally more tolerable, more suitable for everyday use and far more pleasant!
- The performance is also top here, the durability is brilliant and the projection in the first few hours leaves nothing to be desired!
Overall, a great reinterpretation of the fragrance; the Deified Tony Iommi is fruitier, fresher and lighter, but retains a certain dark character due to the leather and patchouli that are still present. Top!
Now, what is the difference to the OG, the Tony Iommi Monkey Special?
- The Tony Iommi Monkey Special is far edgier, more brute and louder. It's definitely the big brother, the rebel.
- The Tony Iommi Monkey Special has more character and recognition value; a real rock star fragrance that smells "dirty", alcoholic like rum, more leathery and also darker; the patchouli is simply dirtier in the OG. The Deified Tony Iommi is completely devoid of rum and any "booziness".
- The Tony Iommi Monkey Special is definitely not for everyday wear; it's not an office fragrance, you really have to choose your situations carefully; in this respect, the new Deified Tony Iommi is far more versatile!
- The fruitiness at the beginning is a parallel, only in the Tony Iommi Monkey Special the passion fruit is in the foreground and in the Deified Tony Iommi it has been replaced by a fresher apple; both top, but different! The Deified Tony Iommi is much fresher in the opening and also in the further course.
So which one should you get? I think that's the wrong question! Although the fragrances come from the same "series", they couldn't be more different. Yes, there are certain parallels, but the reinterpretation of Deified Tony Iommi appeals to a completely different market! The fragrances are very well complementary for different purposes; the Deified Tony Iommi works for me in spring and also in summer on evenings or colder summer days, even in fall; the Tony Iommi Monkey Special, however, needs the right environment, cold fall days and deepest winter! :)
So test it and be pleasantly surprised! A real top release from the house!
