Whatta man, whatta mighty good man
I love my old-fashioned style of masculine perfumes. Clean, soapy, a bit of a bite from cloves and vetiver. So no surprise here, I immediately loved this.
The thing with Xerjoff Homme is, it’s scent is layered on a thick base of what I call “the freshly polished black leather shoes” scent. That makes this so beautiful and unique. At least I haven’t smelled it anywhere else besides the Anniversary edition, which I’ll review later on.
I don’t want to get all emotional here, but this really reminds me of my dad, who sadly isn’t around anymore. He was a hard working man, getting his hands all dirty with grease all day. When I was younger I remember him getting home, smelling a bit like petrol and washing his hands with this garage-soap as he called it. A weird smelling type of grainy soap. Then he’d dress up a bit, polishing his shoes. We didn’t live in this throw-away society back then. I really get flashbacks of that time!
What I don’t like about the perfume though, is two things. The price and the performance. It’s top tier stuff we’re talking about here, 400€ for 50ml retail. It’s a good scent with some sillage but it easily gets overpowered. If you’re wearing this at a party, it’s gone. Best to keep it for date nights I guess. I do enjoy it casually as well but it’s just too special and expensive for that.
