Such a pleasant suprise in dry down
TannievanE06/14/22 12:33

I blind bought this fragrance as soon as it came out. I mean...Hazelnut heaven.. what is not to love right?
And I do like gourmands, but not if they are too literal or linear.
I haven’t done a full day wear test yet as it's summer here and this to me is a cold weather fragrance.

My first impression after wearing it is that at first blast it leans masculine. BUT It gets much more unisex in dry down (within 15 minutes). I guess that’s due to the thyme … it’s not a medicinal opening but it has a bit of a herbal bite.

In dry down it gets really warm and cozy. The hazelnut really comes through and it makes it a bit creamy nutty but it’s not lactonic. Together with the amber, vanilla an tonka I just didn't want to stop smelling my wrists.

I think this would work great for colder fall weather.
It’s a strong fragrance… To me it has some similarity to Side effect by Initio.. not a dupe... But that intensity has the same vibe in the dry down.

I definitely like it… but I would not describe it as a gourmand-gourmand (as I had expected it to be).

A Sweet Disappointment
Kotor is the name of the perfume, like the Venetian town by the same name located in the bay in Montenegro. A UNESCO World Heritage site, this bay is nestled like a butterfly-shaped fjord in a rugged karst landscape, dominated by Lovcen and the Orjen mountains. Since it is difficult to obtain, I asked Memo's customer service for a sample-and received it very quickly, great. Now to the scent. Around the bay of Kotor, mimosa blooms in February, followed by broom. In the rocks, there’s thyme, sage, and a variety of wild herbs and wildflowers-olives and bay leaves, and in some places, still chestnuts. All of this is complemented by the scent of the Adriatic and salt.
Unfortunately, this fragrance does not reflect all of this, but instead remains in the modern mainstream with a piercing woody note, which I find very annoying to unbearable in other fragrances as well. What a pity, being closely connected to the land, I would have wished for a completely different scent.

Nondescript, sweet and burnt with hints of dung(?) and traces of the same dry and lifeless hazelnut note as in Teo Cabanel's Oh la la

Gourmand with tonka bean. Dripping with saffron, caramel, and patchouli. Very sweet.

starts off as sexy as Rosendo Mateu No. 5 with tonka bean and metallic saffron. Unfortunately, barnyard oud in the dry down.

Fine spices, nestled in a honey-saffron-caramel blend. Wraps you wonderfully without being overpowering…
