Let's hear it, people. Your worst blind buys.
Mine, even though I own few FB, is definitely Hawas for Him

There was this time when I was really intrigued by the Patchouli note. Lots of people kept repping Patchouli Eau de Toilette as the real thing. So I bought a bottle. Well that’s some unapologetic damp hippie shizzle right there! Luckily it was only a 30ml bottle.

I got a sample of Le Patchouli Eau de Toilette Intense. Haven't tried it yet, but it seems to be pretty much identical to
Patchouli Eau de Toilette
I don't own them anymore but:
Eau de Rochas L'Essentiel (Love the classic
Eau de Rochas (2015) though, but this one smells like 4711)
Luckily those were all 'cheapies'
And then there are some that I hardly wear, too many to mention actually, blind buying is just not a good idea.
Also got two 'blind gifts' (my own fault: I put it blindly on my birthday-list): a sample set of Maison Crivelli. I really detest all scents that are in it, at least I now know I needn't explore that house any further and a sample-set of Maison Violet, all very bad performing scents and not interesting either in my opinion.
Sad to hear @Ringtale , I liked quite a few of them! Which set did you get, the one with the Oud smells or the other one?

I'll get on testing it, as soon as I finish testing my Amouage samples
JPG Scandal pour Homme
Parfums de Marly Pegasus
Amouage Interlude
Affinessence Vanille-Benjoin
Tiziana Terenzi Gumìn
@Ringtale a blind sample set isn't so bad! Just think of those gifts as having saved you from a potential future Maison Violet or Crivelli blind-buy.
For my part, Cool Water Eau de Toilette. My thoughts when buying it were "it's cheap and a classic, even if I don't like it then it's a piece of perfume history that's good to have in a collection", but damn, I wasn't expecting to dislike it quite so much.
And I can't even excuse this... "Tubbees Strawberry Cheesecake | Grandeur". I don't know what I was thinking. I'm pretty sure my thought process was "wouldn't it be so funny if I actually really liked this one?" At least it was only $10.

@Ceesie, The sample set contained: Oud Maracujá ;
Hibiscus Mahajád ;
Tubéreuse Astrale ;
Oud Stallion and
Safran Secret
Sboy for Him hands down
I think it has been 10+ years since I've had a bad blind buy 😅 Nowadays all my blind buys have been successful. I remember probably the last bad one being Blv II which wasn't available for test anywhere but the notes sounded amazing and exactly like my thing. But nope, I definitely disliked the fragrance. Swapped it away several years ago already though.
Bentley for Men Intense is my worse blind buy.
L'Homme is second. It’s not a true blind buy because I did test it on a strip at a store once and liked it; I didn’t test it on skin, though. Then I bought a bottle, tried it on skin, and wasn’t a fan. It smells like “fresh linen” scented air fresher. Luckily I purchased the bottle with a gift card I received and it only cost me $10.

Thanks for mentioning that one. It gets so much hype that I almost bought it myself, and sometimes it pops up in an online discounter so I was tempted to. Not anymore 😁

@Ceesie Glad I could save you the trouble. It’s definitely not my cup of tea.
Worst blind buys ever
2 - Citrus, Wood, Suede Leather
Terre d'Hermès Eau Intense Vétiver
Yea….that’s it for now. 😂
My worst blind buys were
Felino - I technically didn't buy this as it was a gift for me, but it was a blind gift. Yikes. The animalic notes here aren't the issue, it's the absinthe, hazelnut and vanilla, which create a horrifically sweet gunpowder-like scent.
Mémoire d'une Odeur - Honestly not a bad one overall but not for me. Far too loud in the opening. I only bought it because it was cheap.
Bois Mystique Eau de Parfum - Again, not a terrible one but it's pretty boring. I'll wear it, but only for events where I have to smell boring.
I suppose if those were my three worst ones, I've done pretty good. A fair chunk of my collection is blind buys due to the lack of options for sampling where I live, but apparently I've done pretty good to only have three that didn't impress me!
